I was in the same boat in my last job - 30c and I was sitting there with jumpers as the cold air would be blowing right onto me - so am feeling for you!0

I've just ditched a reply as your original post had nothing to do with temps but dry skin, dry eyes and sore throat.PollySouthend wrote: »I can cope with hot or cold temperatures usually OK,but I find the air so dry that my skin feels dry, get dry eyes and have a sore throat.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
As a previous poster has said, take sips of water, and also take in a tub of Nivea or similar to moisturise your skin regularly.0

Last year, I sat at a till and the temperature reached 42 degrees! Now we have a blind to keep the temperature below 30.

Thanks everyone. The moisturiser and water is helping. Also a neck scarf and fingerless gloves are making me feel much better today.
Is 17 for air con particularly low? It sure seams it0 -
It would be too low for me. And perfect for my friend. We've just had this argument sharing a room on holiday. It probably feels colder in a office because you're not moving around much.
(Now picturing your bosses face while you do star jumps around the room.)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Air con will cause those symptoms initially, you'll adapt to it in time. In the meantime keep taking sips of water and if your eyes are uncomfortable get some eye drops.
To quit over this would be quite ridiculous.
I got poorly on my second day after starting a new job with aircon (my last job didn't even have heating.)Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Lol I am actually running up the stairs and walking to a different toilet to warm up.
Still not sure if I can hack this environment for long. Feel really run down.
Lulu did you adjust to it or quit the job?0 -

It was only 2 months ago. I'm still here. I came to work for my first day, was fine and then when I woke up on day 2 I had the worst cold in the world and felt like death! Only just got over the last of it but my opinion is that my office is too warm (not too sure the aircon is working properly)Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

This is quite common. Aircon just recirculates any bugs etc that anyone in the office has had. People who've worked there a while have built up an immunity then a new person comes in and is instantly sick.
I've had it a couple of times when working out of another site for a few days - and plenty of new starters here have a couple of days off in their first week.
It sucks, because everyone wants to make a good first impression, but that's life.
I was actually sick on day 2 of my first ever job out of uni for this reason. Was mortified.0
