started first job in a office where people in the room control aircon

Hi,
Just started a new job last week. Like the job but in the office people have access to choose the air con temp, they always have it on 18 and love it.
I can cope with hot or cold temperatures usually OK,but I find the air so dry that my skin feels dry, get dry eyes and have a sore throat. Plus my desk has constant cold air flowing at me and it seams to really chill me, have to have a lot of breaks to warm up outside. Been wearing a hoodie and jeans but still find my fingers and ears cold.
Is this normal? Really thinking about quiting as feel rough from it and they say there is nowhere else to move me.
Any help would be good?

Air con will cause those symptoms initially, you'll adapt to it in time. In the meantime keep taking sips of water and if your eyes are uncomfortable get some eye drops.
To quit over this would be quite ridiculous.0 -

You lucky git! I have to sit in 26c surrounded by women complaining they are cold. My eyes with contacts dry out it's so hot.0 -

I have the same. On days when it's 22 degrees in the office they have their bl**dy heaters on.
OP, you need to talk to them and compromise.Pants0 -
Thanks, I'm hoping I will adjust to it.
Wish I was in your offices! its not so much the temp as being next to the unit0 -
Its kind of hard to compromise when 11 people are happy with it, and just me that isn't happy with it.0

Move the louvers so the airflow doesn't point anywhere near you. Pointing upwards often seems a good option.0

Or just tell people you're freezing so would one of the icebergs like to swap desks if being cooler is more important to them than you.
My last office, the person who was always complaining it was cold insisted on the desk near the draughty window. Then put the heater on full blast. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Tried changing the direction. Doesn't make that much difference.
Problem is I've asked everybody and they are all fine with their desk, was told to bring a thick jumper as I'm on my own of feeling cold0 -
Can we swop jobs please? 29'degrees in our office all last week and made everyone ill.0

Yes let's swap, I'll get my vest shorts and flip flops ready!0
