If you read the thread on Legal Beagles there is a section, 6.2.2, that mentions a error, i would consider getting the the discount wrong may well count.
Still don't think getting the thick end of £20k off an F Type is going to get much sympathy when the car is selling well and has long lead times.
Even the XJL has a lead time of 12 weeks to 16 weeks dependant on options and colours chosen.0 -
Why wouldn't he want a new car from a dealer for the price agreed!
Because to start ownership with a dealer you are at loggerheads with is not the formula for a pleasant relationship, it will be agro all the way. Try getting him to rectify a rattle. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -

Or better, never see him again, go to a different dealer for the servicing.0 -

So when someone brings in a new car and asks the other dealer to listen to his rattle how much of a sympathetic ear is he going to get ?You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -

A lot I would imagine, you know how much the dealers charge per hour for normal servicing, then the warranty costs on top of that back to the manufacturer?0 -

Being an employee discount, wouldn't suing your employer be slightly career limiting, and cost more in the long run? Also, being an employee benefit, there will no doubt be T&C's and the possibility of not being able to buy any further vehicles in the future?0

Even if it's not the V8, can I have a couple at that price?0

Well, we've reached a negotiation conclusion. To be honest, I wouldn't be willing to take them to court, so I figured I'd just get the best deal I could bargain. In the end, we're both happy - they might not have made any profit from the sale, but they'll get my servicing business and repeat sales in the future. They've never made me feel uncomfortable, which is admirable given how much of an awkward !!!!!! I've been!
And overall, I reckon it'll be a free car for the first year with the level of discount we decided on, and who would turn that opportunity down? It would have been a case of cutting my nose off to spite my face.
Cheers for the advice, all!0
