Your thoughts on Bt Broadband please

Hi,

I have been with Tiscali for just over a year now and feel its time to change ISP because of a combination of my router and tiscali itself i keep on losing connection.

I was thinking of going for the Bt option 1 package, £8.99 for 6 months then £13.99 12 months on an 18 month contract, £8.99 sounds good to me and i get a wireless router also..

Could anyone share their experiences of Bt broadband with me please i.e ease of setting up, connection quality and how many ports are on the router for internet cables because i have 3 already running off my 1meg broadband now.

BT has crashed everyday in the last year at some point i am at my wits end with BT.

I work on Broadband faults. Have you established why you are losing connection with Tiscali?
Are you a long way from your local exchange ie 8km or more?
Have you had a BT Broadband engineer check your line and internal wiring?

Hiya.
I have had a really good experience with BT over the last 18 months. I was with NTL before who were beyond awful. Their service worked less than 50% of the time.

BT haven't been the cheapest, but they have been mega reliable. I have only had one day without internet and that turned out to be due to me knocking my wireless box off the table and needing to be reset. BT talked me through the process and were pretty good, but it is annoying that its a paid for 0870 phone number.

I often think with its luck of the draw with internet providers anyway, but I have seen alot worse that BT.

I live in the West Midlands and i think Tiscali exchange is in manchester...

Sorry i put £8.99 a month for whole contract when it is only £8.99 a month for the first six months.

Also i was wondering if they would bill me separately for the broadband as my dad pays for the main phone bill.

I have had nothing but trouble since getting BT Broadband, very slow speeds (128k), rubbish customer support and the hub phone only works when it feels like it. Im trying to get out of my contract, im paying £26 a month for a modem speed, im so fed up with them i could cry!

Plus call centre is foreign so lots of communication problems!

(You get it added to your quarterley bill)
