Annualcreditreport.co.uk

I have just done the above credit report and everything is fine but its saying I have had 0 searches on my account which I no not to be true, is this service accurate as its free?? everything else seems fine. On another note I did the credit scoring and got 789 out of a 1000, but I have applied for a couple of credit cards and been told no each time, my partner has a horrendous credit background but i thought they only took mine in to consideration now? Any info much appreciated!

It just seems they have got a crystal ball and can see your report in several different companies files(eg Equifax). Cant see how it can be accurate!!!!

I know for a fact I have had credit searches because my mortgage has just been done and an application for a credit card, plus I did the 30 day free with equifax and it showed them on there, Knew it was to good to be true being free and all that, oh well!!

There are 3 credit reference agencies in the UK.
I believe that annual credit report use the 3rd one, call credit.

When you have a search the lender does not necessarily use all 3 credit reference agencies (there is a list somewhere on this site of which lenders use which credit reference agency).
Call credit are the least well used and it's entirely possible that your lender did not do a search with that agency.

I've just had a fairly thorough search around the annualcreditreport site and couldn't find a statement to that effect.

Indeed, I'd go as far as to say they lead you to believe they *do* search all 3 CRA's.

If you google 'annualcreditreport callcredit' there are many hits returned, and several of them point back to MSE - to threads where previous posters have complained the information supplied by annualcreditreport is innaccurate/incomplete.

To accurately reflect who searches your credit files you really have to check your files from all 3 Agencies. Equifax, Experian and Call Credit. You can obtain £2 reports from Equifax and Experian and a Free Report from Call Credit via Annual Credit Report. So this is a saving of £2.

There are two reasons credit file searches are done.

    1. To check your credit file to establish with whom you have financial dealings. (provides lenders with the information to enable them to credit score you etc).

    2. To Establish you are who you say you are. (To preven ID Theft).

YOU can establish Credit Reference database integrity to prevent id theft. Check out the system described at www.freeidprotection.co.uk it is driven and controlled by you. If you so wish.

Let's put it this way - my report matches exactly my call credit report.
The innacuraccies reported by others would also match this scenario.

I leave you to draw your own conclusions.

I don't have time to lok for it now but I'd like to see exactly what they do say to see how it could be interpreted.

I'm not disputing what you say lisyloo (if your post was directed at me), just saying they lead you to believe they search more than one agency by the wording in their T&C's. See below...

There are several examples on their website, but perhaps the most blatant is in condition 2 of their T&C's...
    2. Credit file searches leave a search footprint both in our records and at the credit reference agencies we search. These are for your protection so that you may see who has been searching your credit file.
