I'm a little worried as I have excellent credit rating at the moment and I am thinking of getting a mortgage soon.

Stop kidding yourself. No mortgage lender is going to take someone that walks away from debt seriously. The debt will be registered somewhere. You may even receive a CCJ yet.

    +1

You've also said "I'm not exactly on a brilliant wage at the moment", good luck getting a mortgage. Where's your deposit for your mortgage going to appear from, if you can't afford to pay off £2,000?
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.
