Disconnected number????
how do you know if a mobile number has been disconnected?
I have tried to phone someone twice today. 1st time it rang no answer. I tried a few hours later and it disconnected me with out ringing.
I have tried from a landline just in case it was my mobile. And does the same.
Do I take the assumption the number has been disconnected rather than switched off or out of signal?

Your terminology is a little confusing - how did the number you called 'disconnect' you? If you dial a valid number it will either connect ( ring ) or go to voicemail.
If the number is invalid, you either get a spoken message 'You have dialled an invalid number' or the number unobtainable tone.0
