I bet the farmer was equally confused when you said that you would see what your other half said!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

marleyboy, I am thinking, "range" as in American Ranch... although upon reading, it seems the open range, was even more open than a ranch... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranch#The_Open_Range
The "open range"; letting your livestock out into the wild in the Spring to do as they please to be rounded up later when you want to sell them.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. If OP has trouble circumnavigating the narrow lanes of Devon, he should get himself a SatNav0

I can understand where the OP is coming from, I find dealing with farmers quite difficult. For instance I saw an advert for free manure, when I called the number it turned out to be bull $ hit0

You joke. This actually happened.
There used to be sign out the front of the house on the gate to our land warning drivers to beware as there were free roaming chickens in our lane (was there before we moved in as previous owners had chickens too)
A couple climbed the gate and came up to the house banged on the door demanding free chickens then threw a paddy when I explained the sign.
They were deadly serious and the woman got frighteningly irate. She refused to see the funny side and went off on a rant that she was going to call the police. She was white lipped angry and was very intimidating.
She hung about the front of the house for so long shouting and gesturing to her partner getting herself worked up into a fine old rage that i started to get seriously worried. I called the chickens in to their pen and locked them away as she was yelling about taking some 'for the principle'
We changed the sign. Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
I sw a sign earlier that said 'plant crossing', well I waited there for nearly 4 hours and all I saw was a couple of dumper truck and a jcb0

I saw a sign that said "Blind summit ahead". I was disappointed not to see a group of people round a table with sunglasses and labradors. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0
