I have a Smurf! I need to work on getting a Dulux dog and Natwest pigs! I also have a Clanger whom I am very fond off. My oldest toy is a Huggy Bear which clings to your wrist. My dad bought him while my mother was in hospital and I had to hide him from her. He is a bit battered now but 40 years old and I love him.

    elsien,

Will the relative will have medical professionals with them on the flight? That may help reassure them.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

Hospital says they were in a coma, now out of the coma but agitated and disoriented, have run all the tests they can think of and can't find a physical cause for said coma so are now running all the tests again.
So we're speculating madly about whether the medics would want to sedate someone who has been in a coma, and if not how they're going to get them anywhere near a plane without them getting even more agitated and upset. As I say, it's all guesswork and very much a case of wait and see. If they're being medevacced home I'm guessing it's a special flight with medical staff, not your bog standard charter.
I'm not after answers for the situation because there aren't any, just after any experiences that people have that might help me understand a bit more about how they feel as I'm trying to reassure other relatives on limited information. The person is prone to extreme anxiety about their health anyway even when not stuck in hospital in foreign climes, so as far as coping stategies go, they're probably right out of the window.

  • Panic attacks are irrational and they often feel it. You know you are terrified but you often don't know why because you are too terrified to think properly about specifics. In the case of phobia's like this there is a huge sense of impending doom as well. The best way I have found to describe my own panic attacks is you know that feeling when your chair tips too far backward and you realise you are going to fall? That moment of total helpless panic? Imagine that feeling but extended for 15 minutes at least. That is how my panic attacks make me feel. It is total terror complete with fast heart rate, cold sweating and shaking. But, even though they don't feel it they are harmless. The worse that has ever happened to me is I have hyperventilated so much that I have fainted which immediately caused my body functions to return to normal and stopped the panic attack.

I had one of these too! It came in a red box and wrapped around your arm!

I wonder where it is....someone at my mum's house still probably.
  • Yay tea! Most people don't remember them and look at me oddly! Mine sits by my bed and I still put him on my arm sometimes!

Does the mouth move, or am I remembering something else?
  • Yes it does! You can make him talk and chew things!

Ah, happy memories! I can still see him sitting there on top of my wardrobe in my tiny first bedroom at home.
  • Awww, how sweet! I adore mine. I was so attached to him as a child and I still am, really. He got carried a lot so he is a bit tattered but I love him.
