Just phoned the money management team at my biggest creditor Halifax. Told them I was entering a DMP with SC. The gentleman that I spoke to was actually really lovely. He kept asking me to go through an expenses and income sheet. I refused as I told him that SC would be providing Halifax with all the details.
Did I do the right thing in refusing?

Your under no obligation at all to provide personal details to any third party.

He was really nice but when I said "I'm too stressed to go through all of this and SC will be in touch" he wanted to get off the phone sharp-ish.

Absolutely, just stay polite and tell them exactly what you did.
The first thing you signed when you got your Stepchange pack was the authority to let them act on your behalf which they will do.
Let them earn their 3 weeks interest from your money
