Just phoned the money management team at my biggest creditor Halifax. Told them I was entering a DMP with SC. The gentleman that I spoke to was actually really lovely. He kept asking me to go through an expenses and income sheet. I refused as I told him that SC would be providing Halifax with all the details.

Did I do the right thing in refusing?

Well I don't think you did the wrong thing. They probably want to pester you about paying more so on reflection you did do the right thing!

    Yes.

Your under no obligation at all to provide personal details to any third party.

As you have already given stepchange all your income/expenditure details, that is sufficient.

    Thank you Sour.

He was really nice but when I said "I'm too stressed to go through all of this and SC will be in touch" he wanted to get off the phone sharp-ish.

A couple more to ring except for Shop Direct Group. They can go and do one :D

Absolutely, just stay polite and tell them exactly what you did.

The first thing you signed when you got your Stepchange pack was the authority to let them act on your behalf which they will do.

Let them earn their 3 weeks interest from your money ;)
