I spoke to Step Change this morning (superbly helpful as ever) and they didn't really see the point as all my creditors will get paid on 1st July however they said that I could just write to each of them and let them know that I've entered a DMP.
Will do this, this week except for Littlewoods and Very as I've heard they will call me a lot. I've changed my landline number. I dread them calling.
Hi Fuzzy
That can be true where some of the catalogue companies are concerned. Hopefully your change of number will do the trick, though. If any calls do come through, it might be worth you having a couple of set phrases written down and/or memorised that you use before ending the call. The one thing not to do is to get drawn into a full-blown conversation - the longer you are on the phone, the more likely you are to end up offering you shouldn't.
Anyway it sounds like you are making very good progress already and I wish you good luck with your DMP.
Kind regards
Dennis

If your first payment to SC is 1st July, that money will not be distributed to your creditors until 25th July. It's safest to ensure there is never more than a 28 day gap between your last "normal" payment and your first DMP payment so I actually think sending each creditor £1 would be a good idea. Online banking payments are free, no stamp and no post office charge :T

You could CCA them for the 2006 account, see if they have the correct paperwork, if not, makes it easier to deal with.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I'm very new to this how do I acquire a CCA? I may have been with them for slightly longer as they were previously trading under the 'Choice' name.LBM 2 June 20140 -

A CCA request is a request for a copy of your original agreement, as your account predates April 2007, when the law was changed, the correct response from them would have to be a signed copy of the agreement you were given, and it must contain all prescribed terms applicable to your account, ie, credit limit, how and when to make payment etc.
If they cant produce this, in a nutshell, they cant enforce the account through the courts, so it puts you in a much better position to either offer a really low sum to clear the debt, or even not to pay it at all.

Only a court can decide on enforceability of an account, but creditors tend to shy away from accounts with paperwork issues.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Just phoned the money management team at my biggest creditor Halifax. Told them I was entering a DMP with SC. The gentleman that I spoke to was actually really lovely. He kept asking me to go through an expenses and income sheet. I refused as I told him that SC would be providing Halifax with all the details.
Did I do the right thing in refusing?LBM 2 June 20140
