Moving a telephone post

I'm trying to make access for my dad easier by widening the drive way entrance. The drive is going to be resurfaced and leveled out.
However, there is a telephone mast restricting the widening of the driveway entrance.
Does anyone know who would foot the bill to move the post?
And also what rights we hold.
It should be noted that the post was in place when he moved there and the post is situated on the pavement.
Any help/information would be much appreciated!

He will have to foot the bill, even assuming that BT (or whoever has rights to decide about the pole) agrees.0

Your dad would need to pay the costs to move the pole.
Expect to pay around £500 for them to come out and give you a quote, and then anything from £2000 - £5000 for the work to be done. Obviously if something particularly complicated the costs could increase.0 -
If you think the above is expensive....
It took 6 men in 3 vehicles a whole day, including a round trip journey of 70 miles, to move one post for me.
Fortunately, the original post was illegally sited, so Openreach / BT met the cost.
If that's what they do for themselves, just think what they can do for you! :rotfl:0 -
We once had a lamp post moved. We were advised to widen the drive first which meant the post was an obstruction. Didn't have to pay (just for dropped curbs).0

Ah yes, the good old days when council officials were jolly chaps full of helpfulness and free advice. Some of them still are, though the advice isn't often free now.
But this is Openreach, who don't even have an easily accessible phone number.....0 -
The irony of their name.... anything but open and impossible to reach.
Yes, that wasn't lost on me in the many months during which I tried to make contact with them.
I have power, water and telecoms on my land. I can reach and receive replies from two of them inside 24hours.....0 -
you need to contact openreach and speak to them about a line plant rearrangment
http://www.expect.openreach.co.uk/who-to-contact/
have a look at that webpage and there is an 0800 number and you need the option for external network relocation
openreach will expect you to pay for the pole to be removed and the cost will depend what it is, if it is a main distribution pole with all the neighbours lines coming off it chances are it will cost more to move than a feeder pole carrying one or two wires0 -

openreach do have a contact number for this sort of thing, ring that number and they will arrange a survey offer to contact you to talk about the line plant rearrangement0 -

that page has information about line plant rearrangement and it is a link from the first page i posted, it contains click-able links to get in touch, but i would ring the number in my first link and speak to them0
