And in other news... I'm going back to work on Tuesday! Sick note runs out on Monday and the following three days were going to be holiday so I'm biting the bullet and saving the hokiday days.
Feeling pretty nervous (which is ridiculous as I've only been off 6 weeks) but since the masage and supplements my health is rapidly improving. The fact that I spent an hour scrubbing off limescale that's been "welded" to each of the toilets since before we moved in cemented the decision. Work will be a nice rest and I've run out of Good Wife/Game of Thrones/Warehouse 13/24/Orange is the New Black/Sons of Anarchy to watch
And of course in those 6 weeks there's a backlog of work to be caught up and overtime available once I'm up to full time hours
All in all I'm feeling REALLY positive. I have a return to work plan and a potential career advancement plan that'll come with increased income and aid me in reducing the debt gaster.
DD1 has almost finished exams and has agreed to look for paid work in return for a reduction in household chores (teens currently "earn" pocket money for housework jobs) which saves me £5 a week on pocket money. That doesn't sound like much but it's £250 a year towards the debt or put aside for emergency fund.
I'm still a little incredulous that my life has taken this positive turn and in a weird way slightly pleased that the debt happened so I have had the chance to learn these lessons now (before it got worse) and pass those lessons on to my children.

Well said Kate! Couldn't have said it better myself
One thing that I like to drop into the forum every now and again is if you're struggling then don't bottle it up or do anything silly (*cough* new payday loans *cough*).
Post a comment and folk will try to help you or call your DMP provider as (an I can only speak for SC here but assume the same applies elsewhere) there is a modicum of flexibility afforded to you - don't sabotage yourself!

I'm glad for you
I've tried hot stone, swedish, sports, weird oily stuff and deep tissue... They all felt nice ('cept deep tissue as she made me cry when she kneaded my lower back ) but sadly didn't last long and now I'm on reduced pay and just want to eat nice food
I just want to be well now, walking properly isn't fun as I keep forgetting to breath (LOL) and staying upright and going heel to toe is giving me stomach ache too it'll be worth it if in a few more days it passes though

Just a thought MB, have your vit D levels been checked? Although the worst of my pain is in my leg (understandably) the pain in my lower back is a close second. The symptoms of a deficiency are muscle and bone pain and it gets missed in a general blood screen. There's a specific test for it. Might be worth a try and it's something that's often overlooked.
Anyway, I've been thinking of you and hope that you are seeing some improvements.

Awwww... You've been thinking of me? I'm wearing skin tight PVC if it helps
LOL no seriously, I appreciate it
Vitamin D? Nope, nobody has mentioned it but I did have a blood test a little while back and it came back as normal... I have a GP appointment tomorrow though so I'll ask thanks for the heads up!
Yesterday I had a gym session at the hospital and it wiped me out for most of the afternoon/evening and I came away feeling like I'm just being a wimp lol. I can do all the exercises and showed as much (I've never once said I couldn't) in the session - comments like "you can do the exercises so the pain is in your head, don't think about it and it will go" just made me feel bad... I've just been out for a walk and tried not to think about it but nope, I can categorically say it's back and hip LOL I went out thinking I should man up and came back knowing it'd be stupid as I'm not fixed
Anyway, I'll stop whining now

No...the PVC doesn't help  but on another point that could be a way to increase income, I'm told there's good money to be made involving PVC clothing
Vit D might be on a hiding to nowhere but it's an idea, I know I'm furious that it's taken 13 months to pick mine up and I've had symptoms for years.
The comments regarding your pain are male bovine excrement! Who's to say what the cause is! My pain correlates to my stress levels but it took a friend pointing it out for me to realise. "All in the mind" is a very outdated school of thought and pain symptoms are completely separate to range of motion! I'm sure I am physically capable of getting through a marathon but it doesn't mean it won't hurt! Pain is a body's message to tell us to stop doing something, "no pain, no gain" theory went out with legwarmers and ra-ra skirts!
Good luck at the doc's. Even if vitamin deficiency can be discounted it's one step closer to finding the real problem and treating it.

Whilst I'm not happy about reducing my SC payment I didn't add to my debt, just potentially extended my DFD.
Are you okay now MB? Could have happened to any one of us in the heat of the moment so I totally understand the gremlins tripping you up.

Hi all
I am just thinking of starting a DMP with Stepchange, I have applied for a new current account so just waiting for that to go through first. Just a few questions- as all the debts are mine- cc and catalogues will taking a DMP effect my partners credit rating? We are not linked financially in any way- and he covers all the bills.
A large amount of the money I use to pay my bills is from what I earn on Ebay selling off kids old clothes/toys etc but I cant rely on it- will I be able to save some money up in my paypal and pay extra off my debts to reduce it quicker. I'm just really struggling to make payments now and need to take control before it gets worse.
Any advice would be appreciated- TIA0 -

Hi mad, and welcome! If you have no joint finances ie; bank accounts, mortgage etc then no your partners credit rating wouldn't be hit. It's only when you are financially associated. As for overpayments etc I suggest you read back a couple of pages as this was asked in the last day or so.

Thanks MB good to have an idea of possibilities etc.
On the back front (excuse the pun!) - my sister has had sporadic chronic back pain for 20 years or so. A month or so ago it got so bad the doctor was concerned and sent her for an emergency scan - nothing showed. They gave her more relaxants/pain killers but she decided to investigate the possibility that she has 'caused' the pain by tensing up in order to prepare for pain - and got herself into a vicious circle. She went to a sports physio/psychologist and he is helping her to detach/ re-learn that her back is ok - and it is really working for her, she is learning to relax. Even if pain is 'all in the mind' it still needs to be worked through - I thought may be of interest:)
Exactly Kate I feel very excited to be changing my financial life, shame it's taken this long - hopefully I won't be too old to enjoy wages and debt freedom:)... I was raving to my dad how fantastic it feels to be blacklisted - I don't think he quite 'got it' but happy I'm happy. And the slidey gadget sounds very motivating - am definitely looking forward to that. Using ynab should, within a couple of months, show me if/what spare I have to throw at the debts.
Good news about work - and it sounds like lots to look forward to
I'm lucky to get summer hols off (I'll be doing my lime scale then )

Hi Mad
Just to say welcome - ditto Puzz - Monkeyballs has recently given useful advice/information about overpayments. Like you I'm just starting out on SC DMP.
Good luck
