Hello people I'm new to this and under my brothers account but I need advice please. Yesterday I got a knock on my door by a enforcement officer from jwp for unpaid council tax that amounts to £1300.

Hello.. and welcome to all the newbies...

Sorry I have been absent, always reading but not been posting. For those who don't know me... I started my dmp in November 2013 owing £60062:eek:... It took many years to get to that figure so I decided to take the scenic route and my current debtfree date is summer 2022... I hope to bring this in nearer as I have a family loan that I finish end of next year.. but also a dd who is heading to uni.. so who knows.... I am now in the 49k's which although still huge is better than the 60k's....!!!

So prior to starting my dmp I read all of what was the current thread and 2 previous threads, this put me in a very good postiion, knowing what was coming and how to deal with it.

I did 3 months of £1 token payments and wrote to all my creditors every month. I didn't receive any nasty calls, and just ignored the letters as I had read on here that they were computer generated.

Out of my 9 creditors I have now got 5 defaults, don't confuse the default notices you will receive as actual defaults.. a default has to be registered on your credit file.... and we all know and love Barclaycard who are *uggers at AP markers rather than giving a default and they also like to charge interest as well.. but that's a whole different story..

I have paid interest to one creditor Creation since the beginning but it is only £10 a month (after a battle with the FOS joining in) and I figure that is a small amount of interest on the total balance I owe to all.. Barclays have now joined in after sending me a default notice last month they have now written to tell me I am such a loyal customer I am on a formal arrangement, interest will be charged (again about £10 a month and happy AP markers will continue.. haven't decided what I'm doing about this yet... will post when I know..

Anyway waffle, waffle.. All I can say is don't get bogged down with the defaults/AP's etc.. just get on with paying and enjoy seeing your debts tumble down. Creditors seem to treat us all differently.. apart from BC of course...!

Be proud, you are dealing with your debts, they can't have what you haven't got and keep posting here.

Keep asking questions as this helps all future dmp'ers...

    Much Love

    Or both?

i would vote sazzie's post goes first and then maybe the members list.

I hope they do default you and do let us know, as I have many default notices but no default.

Hi Coinmachine, I had a similar issue with Halifax......
    snpjaw wrote: »
Thanks to all who gave advice on this post, wrote into Halifax back in April to say I thought the decision to hike the interest back up was a little unfair as my payments would increase as my debt decreased etc etc and have finally had a decision in writing back, my default has been removed, I have had just over £1800  of interest and charges refunded, all future charges and interest have been waived :T so ultimately my DFD has come forward by about 4 months :rotfl: so pleased!! To anyone having similar issues, if you think charges are hampering your DMP, get a letter sent off outlining your issues, it could get you a really positive result :money:

Have a lovely weekend everyone :j

Worth you giving a go maybe? :)

    Hi Puzzcat!

I've been reading through all the threads around the time you joined as well as reading your diary so feels like I know you lol!

I assumed this default notice about the Barclayloan would mean I would see a default on my credit file soon but from what you are saying perhaps not? Would that not be something I could complain about that surely a default notice should equal a default marker? It references the Consumer Credit Act and so on.....

I can't believe how reasonable MBNA seem so far, freezing interest and they have worded it in a way that sounds like as long as I keep paying them each month they will continue to freeze interest, My new payment to them is about 17% of my old payment so huge difference but they seem to be fine with it. Am I being naive and maybe in a few months they will change their tune?

    Hi KID77,

Can't comment on mbna as they were not one of my creditors sorry. Also as previously said the creditors do treat us all differently..except BC... If you can search the forums for BC/defaults/ap markers there are many threads... some of the guys on here are also familiar with BC's tactic's..
Halifax sold my debt on very early and defaulted me, cap 1, m & s, natwest cc and rbs all defaulted me during 2014. But it is different for each debtor.
I am toying with cca'ing BC as this was originally an egg card but am still thinking about it.

I primarily am just happy the debt is going down and that has always been my focus.
