After being on my stepchange dmp for a few months now, i feel pretty good. Iv'e only had a few letters from creditors. After very rejected my dmp they still haven't charged interest yet, but i get a default letter every month and a statement. My other 3 debts have stopped interest, no letters, or calls, just easy paying.

My phone contract runs out in a couple of months, I'm with vodafone but i'm not very happy with them. Are any of the other suppliers quite lenient on their credit searches ? What are the chances of aking out a contract with another network ? :)

No help to you, but I renewed with Virgin recently. I'm sure I recall someone saying mobile phone checks only do a 'soft search' bit can't exactly recall that means.

Good news about the DMP progress, sometimes it seems like everyone is having trouble, but we should remember that people often only come on here when things are going wrong. Very seem to be less problematic lately than earlier reports had suggested so maybe they are finding the less hard core technique more effective.

Have just called Barclaycard to ask how mush was outstanding on the account so we could write and complain about the default and once we got talking to the guy he said he would have look at it there and then! He put us on hold and then came back and said they would take the default off of all the credit agencies as it should have gone into default back in 2008. We asked for it in writing which he said was no problem and would we also like it emailed over. So a very good result, thank you for all your help. Maybe a silly question but once this default is off will it make a big difference to the credit files as this was the only problem flagging up?

Result! :D good of BC to sort it so quicly, would have been better if they hadn't put the late default on though!

Have you checked noddle recently to see if there are any AP markers of any of the files, you might need to drill right down into the account details to se these as they sometimes don't show on the top level pages.

If nothing is showing AP or defeat, then there shouldn't be to ouch impact on your credit file, but it might depend what any of the accounts show as resolution. I'm not an expert on this and maybe better to most this question in the main thread once you have the noddle results.

I highly recommend Giff Gaff. It is PAYG rather than a contract, but when I was looking I couldn't actually find any deals as good even on a contract! They have a good range of 'goodybags' depending on how many minutes, texts and how much data you need, but as an example you can get 500mins, unlimited texts and 5gb data for £15 a month. I keep a few £s extra credit just in case but haven't used anything outside of my goodybag in 6mths or more. If you deside to become active on their forum you can earn a good amount of credit/cash/charity donations too!

We've had the payout from the car insurance and bought a new car after the old one was written off in an accident. Only had it a week and it's already playing up:( It's booked in for a service this week so I am hoping it isn't anything too serious. Not always had much luck with second hand cars, ended up with some real lemons in the past.

Anyhoo DMP still on track. Forgot to cancel the standing order for the Halifax account I finished paying off in March and gave them an extra payment in April. Silly me, one of the things you have to think about when going self managed. Anyway went into the branch yesterday, got my money back and closed my two Halifax bank accounts now that they are all paid off. That felt good!

    Hi

I got a O2 contract and iPhone 5 whilst on 1st year of SC dmp:
I've since 'upgraded' to iPhone 6 in past year via O2.

The SC DMP shouldn't be great concern though I can only tell my experience with O2.

Re the mobile phone contracts, I have had a pay monthly contract with Virgin for the past five years. Been on a DMP with Stepchange for over three years now and never had a problem renewing a contract......... Until earlier this month when told that I was due and upgrade via my online account, went through the upgrade process and got the " Unfortunately, your application to start a Pay Monthly contract has been unsuccessful" email.......

I know different providers have different rules, but normally you are not credit checked for mobile upgrades ?

I have just started a DMP well I have to get all paperwork together and send it off. My main debt is a moneywise loan and it says in there t&cs that if you enter a DMP then they can claim immediate payment of the full loan. Does anyone have experience of them being on a DMP is this what they do or do the accept? Whole thing is very scary and dreading it :(

Sorry if being dim what are AP and defeat markers we have been on noddle but wasn't really sure what we was looking for apart from the default? Also how long does it normally take to get the default taken off the credit file?

You need to look deeper into the noddle file to see how the creditor has reported the debt. BC are well known for ap (arrangement to pay) markers which will affect your rating.
