I think many of us will be in the same boat but am assuming stepchange have informed the creditors of the new payment date. I guess we will find out after the next run of statements from creditors if it has caused a problem. You can't change the date sc pay I would just wait and see what happens rather than worry in advance.

Hi,
My payment due date for Next is around the 21st of the month. I paid a token payment for February (around 17th) but nothing for March. I also paid nothing to Argos in March.
SC just took my first payment on April 1st and it was credited on my Next account on April 12th. They have since refunded interest for the previous 2 months (and a catalogue delivery charge!). Argos have also credited payment with no additional charges or notification of late payment.
I guess it's a similar scenario to the fact that most of my payments are less than the contractual minimum, but all debtors seem to accept this as long as I stick to the DMP.....otherwise there would be late payment charges all over the place!
Judging from my experience I would just leave it and see what happens. If you get a charge just contact them and say it was an oversight during the set up/reorganisation of DMP and they should refund you.

Just echoing the comments above, I'm not entirely sure what is going on at Stepchange at the moment with payments to creditors.
When I login to the online portal (under the 'My Debts' section) then click on the individual creditors, it shows that payments were made on 13th April.
However, most of the creditors where I still have online banking/access do not show any payments yet, whereas in previous months they were getting posted literally a day or two after the payment date. Two accounts have applied payments though so at least something seems to be getting to the right place!
My biggest concern now are the accounts that I can't see online. I'm going to have to go through my next paper statements with a toothcomb to make sure everything has been paid out correctly as I can see payments disappearing into a black hole if I'm not vigilant.
Also, I have to say that whilst Stepchange was a big comfort factor whilst I was going through the initial turmoil of DMP set-up, I'm starting to dislike the 'one step removed' feeling of not having direct payment plans and contact with the creditors.
I may well move onto a self managed DMP later in the year once I've got about 6 months or so under my belt...

Hi Squiz,
I totally agree with all that you've said. Online access has been limited for 5 of my accounts now....it was 3 until today. So I kind of feel in the dark just now. Although it sounds daft (since my debt has spiralled out of control over the last few years ), I go through phases of feeling disillusioned with SC even though they've been a lifeline. You kind of feel helpless that it's out of your control somehow. I think I may follow your lead in terms of going self managed once settled.......I'll wait for your wise words before I start since you're a little ahead of me in the process.

 Another morning of obsessively logging in to check online credit accounts and still the same ones not showing updated with SCs April payment (which should have been sent to them on 10th April (5 working days after 1st April).
The culprits (in my case) are V'money and B'card and Very. I cannot check RBS and NWest because they have both defaulted the accounts and now this week have removed online.
Frustration over. I'm off to work.
Have a terrific Tuesday everyone :beer:DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
How can you tell when Stepchange have sent the payments ? Apart from logging into the online portals for people you owe money.
I did always wonder why they say oh my money for a good few weeks before sending it.0 -
Hi Everyone
Ive posted in this topic before.. was looking at setting up a DMP with Stepchange in Dec... Never went ahead with it tho in the end
I was on 0% offers with some my credit cards, which have now ended, not accepted to any new ones too as my credit rating has gone downhill since I took out payday loans last year!
I put off DMP as concerned about my credit rating for the next 6 years and defaults... Now kinda thinking I should just do the DMP due to level of debt (£18K)
Now looking forward, im not sure if im best carrying on paying the min payments - (but will cost a lot in interest) while I can or consider DMP again..
Ive paid off my payday loans! (Yey) and £400ish of my overdraft (£5k Overdraft which is costing me a lot each month in interest)
- Would be more but just had to pay £300+ on car repairs/service
Now the payday loans are clear, how long would it take for my credit to improve enough to get accepted for better rate/0% offers...
or have i messed that up of ever getting them due to poor history/payday loans?Make £10 a day Challenge June - £1700
