Can anyone help, I have just paid my first payment to stepchange and have noticed that most of my creditors have posted the payment to my account but when checking online with stepchange I have noticed I have given an account number wrong and it ends with a 0 instead of a 3 now this hasn't been credited to my account will this payment be returned to them or applied to some other lucky persons account? Can't believe I've made such a stupid mistake I was so upset filling the forms in and even though I double checked it must not have sinked in I made an error. Please any advise I'm thinking of making the payment myself out my ef as they had agreed to the payment plan and now they could pull the agreement
    Thanks for any help

    Hi Angela,

I would ring stepchange this morning to get it sorted out, they will also be able to advise you if you should make the payment yourself in the interim.

    Fermi,

Jamuary is referring to the message we all got on the SC website saying they were changing the dates they pay the creditors.

    Hadn't seen that.

    Anyone posted that up?

    EDIT:

Yes, they seem to have changed that blog entry now.
You pay us on the 1st or 10th of the month, and we distribute money to all creditors within 5 working days of receiving it. We pay most creditors by electronic transfer so the payment will normally be applied to your account with them the same day.

I've just logged onto Stepchange to find that I have a message that payments will be sent to creditors within 5 days of receipt from April...has everyone else had this message?

    Hi Ellie,

Yes I have got the same message.. also says you will receive your statement 1 week later than at the moment.. I'm sure it makes sense to them...!

    Full messages from Stepchange:

"From April we'll start to send your payments to creditors within five working days of receipt."

"We now send your payments to creditors within five working days of receipt"

"From April, you'll receive your online statement approximately one week later than currently. You don't need to do anything and your payments aren't affected."

For me Direct Debits are collected on the 1st, so next Stepchange payment will be around 6th April, that should bring in my DFD a whole month. :T

I think the message around Statements is just that they are going to produce statements at the end of the calendar month instead of the 25th. Makes sense really as there wont be a single payment run any more.

In other news... At long last, I've got a sig! :T

    Hi Fermi,

Yep quite a bit of chatter about this, but it was a few weeks ago... although it has also popped up since..

OK. Sounds like they've given in to pressure to come into line with what the old OFT debt management guidance required of commercial firms then. Makes sense.

    Hi,
They take payment from you on the 1st or 10th of the month and used to pay creditors on the 25th. They now pay 5 days after taking payment from you.

  • Hi everyone, Next accepted our Dmp and the original SC payment tied in nicely with the statement and their pay by date however the new payment date is going to be late - does that make sense? Should I change payment date with SC, contact next and let them know about the change or leave it as it is? I don't want to rock the boat. Thanks.

Could this not result in two payments in one month then possibly missing a payment scheduled?
