This morning I made a list of adjustments, just summoning up the courage to phone SC!
I've been reading the thread; everyone's optimism and positivity is very encouraging!
It's why I often check the posts last thing, I remember that not being able to sleep time, and often people are sitting wondering and worrying, I think SC advertise as helping you sleep at night, I can see why!
SC DMP,pack probably doesn't mention much about getting an emergency fund, using token payments. The thing is, if you can't access credit, as most of us can't (and in my case defo shouldn't) and something happens, boilers, washing machines, cars:mad:, what do you do? SC is very strong on not using further credit, if you go self managed it's different, but your interest rates would be whopping and could create you even more trouble.
The option is to cut DMP payments, but if you are only paying £100 or so, that's not going to go far, so I'd strongly recommend trying to get at least £250 pref £500 if you have a car. It's slightly different if you have a partner, DH etc not in DMP,and with good credit, as in emergency they would probably help you out.
Anyway I ought to try to sleep too..Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

I'll have one of those hugs thank you as I have a head cold and am feeling sorry for myself...!
Well done on the debit card transaction...

Hope you feel better soon PuzzWelcome to the nicest thread on the entire forum.
I had my LBM in June 2014. I was robbing Peter to pay Paul and I finally had to admit to myself that I could not live like that. I was anxious and scared and posted on this forum for help. The most fabulous people all gave me a virtual hug and pointed me in the right direction (Step Change). Phoning SC literally changed my life for the better.
The first 3 months of the DMP were bumpy but every time I had a query I posted on here, and someone helped me out immediately.
I'm 10 months into my DMP and have already paid over £3K. I'm not anxious and I sleep at night. I couldn't do it without the lovely peeps on here
Poor ol Pete, keeps getting robbed, bet he's glad of SC.
Well done on the 3K great start :TJust dropping by to report a little victory, I paid for my shopping in Asda yesterday with my current account debit card!
Sending safe squishy hugs to all who accept!
Right I am off to bed now as I got a night shift (if I am honest I have got a galaxy Easter egg to eat tonight to!)
Impressive, doesn't it feel good when you can pay with a debit card and know it's not going bounce! I dreaded those type of shopping trips before DMP.
Happy Easter, enjoy the chocolate, eggs or otherwise.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Hi
Ive recently found out that i have been paying the wrong debt for 10 years, i think the original balance was about £2700, i only found this out when i was going through PPI claims and the company let slip a different address on the account which then set the alarm bells ringing, i couldn't believe id been so stupid, but considering the problems i had at the time its no surprise.
Anyway, ive written to the company's concerned and they have dragged their heels over it but they've admitted its their fault. They still haven't got back to me over why and what they are doing about it and so far its taken more than 40 days I have now complained to the ombudsman who has taken the case on.
Question is what would be calculated as a reasonable level of compensation?0 -

I think you may be better off posting this on the main debt free wannabe thread rather than the dmp thread.Christmas 2020 £109
