So long time no see. My DMP has been ticking along okay for a while now, and I'm happy to say my OH has just started part time work.
The DMP is only in my name and he was earning nothing when I took it up so in April I'm going to ring SC and tell them how much more I can afford to give, as he's contributing £50 per week, which is half of what he's earning to be fair! Better than a kick in the teeth. Hopefully this will mean being able to make my DFD sooner!
We've also decided to get married this year, however we're keeping this thrifty. I get a little bonus from work, and we're literally doing register office / village hall affair with home made invites / blagging gifts from talented folk! It's going to be a challenge but a rather exciting one i think!¤ £25k paid off with Stepchange DMP ¤ Debt Free 01/09/17 ¤¤ Saving for a house deposit by '19 ¤ Savs @ £20,000 ¤

Hi Snpjaw
I have been on DMP since 2011. Halifax until recently were my worst dept in terms of unpredictable interest. They were also one of my largest debts. I had not been good at challenging interest i.e.Barclay 6.9%, but that has remained the same over life of DMP. Halifax froze interest to start then added again. I called and they took it off then on again stating I was no longer over limit or similar. Then around a year ago they wacked on the full 28%. I finally wrote a letter.
they called me and initially said there was no option to remove interest as I was paying over minimum. I explained inevitable as debt decreased. I did then stamp a bit and said would go to FOS. I accepted to myself however that was probably that. A bit later they called to say:
they should have defaulted me right at the start, but couldn't now as paying over the minimum. They returned all interest ( over £1000), closed the account with no markers on c file. And gave me £70 apology. It is now decreasing nicely. I don't know if FOS mentioned made them change their mind?
Definitely a letter got a very different response to my earlier calls. Good luck.
Bw Cyd.
Halifax done the same for me on Friday, same issues0 -
Hi, thank you. To clarify, I'm still being charged interest on the loan so until I kick off my debt will increase as interest is greater than the amount they will get from SC. I'm proactively pestering them, though they have implied if I don't revert to full payment after 6 months it will go to their DR recovery and progress in that regard. They seem confused I wish to speed this process up
The fee, I think I've got stopped is a £25 non payment fee they applied. But instead of adding it to the Lloyds loan balance they charge to your Lloyds current account. Naturally if I'm up to the overdraft limit and my SC payment on that is £18 it will kill my overdraft every single month and cost me hundereds a month in daily fees and all sorts even if Lloyds stop the OD charges that would push me back over otherwise (they've not told me they will yet but I've seen they increased my OD limit to stop daily charges at the moment by checking online).
Thankfully I think this £25 will stop but thats proper naughty! Just need to make sure they understand that the payment will be £25 etc but they should do. They know when the SC plan starts!
Lloyds are going to continue to charge interest on our loan and also now say will only accept reduced payments for 6 months. I have written back and asked if they can stop interest as it will not help us pay off debt etc etc and waiting to see what they say and then will send the letter threatening them with Financial Ombudsmen etc etc, if they don't play ball. Didn't want to get too angry straight away. Also having the same problem with Halifax OD that Hubby has, just written back to them as well. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Cool, they've get our letters the same day probably. Keep me updated and I'll do the same. Plenty of accounts of wrangling with Lloyds on here for me not to be suprised. Looking forward to more letters and the first payment going out next month! :cool:LBM October 2014  DMP with StepChange as of March 2015

Will certainly let you know, no problem Just spoken to Lloyds re our OD....only spoke to them 2 days ago and they sent another letter today!!! They have confirmed that as far as OD is concerned, all charges & interest have been stopped for 6 months and will then do another review! Result!:T Hoping Halifax OD may do the same thing as the letter actually comes from the same person as they are the same company!!! If they are ok about the OD, just hoping they may play ball on the loan as well. MBNA have been brilliant right from the start and Tesco defaulted us straight away, Still waiting to hear from BC as all we get from them is letters telling us how much money we owe them!! Also got Debenhams Store card which is owned by NewDay and they haven't written yet, although SC say they have agreed the payment plan. Just can't wait for first payment to come out now on 10th March! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
We have today received out Default Notice from Tesco....:T...do I need to inform SC? It says if we don't pay £67 within 28 days they will pass it to a DCA and we may have to pay all money immediately, but they have already written and said they accept the DMP so don't think that will happen will it? Just wasn't sure if we need to tell SC yet, or not until they send it to DCA....its all so confusingThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. At the moment nothing has changed, the debt is still with the original creditor so there's nothing to tell SC. If they pass it to a DCA and you get a letter from them you need to ring the DCA and tell them you're with SC and let SC know the debt has been sold on so they can pay the right people.
You're making good progress, it'll all settle down soon enoughSPC8 #444 Target £2000 -

Good, optimism helps us get through the day:j
Pleased to see the Lloyds folk are mounting a united self help team, that's brilliant and what this thread is all about. It sounds like the OD people are playing ball and the loan team are not, keep battling on.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.
