Antonic, may I pick your brains. Hellifax have told me they are going to accept my SC payments but will be closing my bank account "while they consider the next steps". They will be passing my O/D and loan to the recoveries team.
Should I be worried or is this standard procedure?
If you have opened another account elsewhere dont worry.
If you still are using your Halifax account open another one elsewhere quickly !.
Once it goes to the Recovery team you may find all interest and charges get frozen.
Good luck for the future !0 -
Much appreciated. They have been so helpful telling me to move my DD's to another bank and pay my wages into the new account.
I've heard that Hellifax don't always treat people too nicely therefore the upbeat tone of their letter scared me a little.LBM 2 June 20140 -

I'm new to this site so hope I'm posting this in the right place, if I'm not please tell me & I'll move it but wanted to ask for some advice.
We've been in a debt management plan since 2008 & have paid off a huge amount of our debt () and should be all paid off in the next 26 months.
We've been paying around £25 per month to the debt management company but haven't heard from them for nearly year and haven't been able to make contact with them over the last two weeks by email, phone or via their website. Obviously the last two companies we have debts with must be getting our payments but its a bit concerning for us. I've checked with companies house and they're still registered.
We're now thinking that we should leave them and put the £25 to pay off the debts. I've found a contract that I signed and it said I could just leave but does anyone know if its that straight forward please?
Thanks in advance
Hi AngelPoppy, sorry I am unable to give you any advice as I am just starting out on DMP with SC but if you read through page 10 of this thread someone had a similar question to yourself - TTFTM kindly put some links up. These may be of help to you:)

Hi Fuzzy
Welcome, its a long road and you are making a great start
Hello to any newbies, we often get a few joining together, I sometimes wonder why that is? Anyway that's not relevant and we are happy to see you all, whether you just lurk, or whether you join in. If there is anything you need to know, ask away. Many finding reading back through the previous threads on 10 & 9 useful.
Back to Fuzzy & it sounds like a standard letter, nothing to worry about if you have started setting up your DMP. Remember the golden rule, don't bank where you have debts - offsetting debts is permitted even across different companies who are linked.
If you have a new bank account with a non linked company then it should be fine. Make sure your DD/SO are moved across or you might get threatening letters from the gas board etc when they try to claim the DD. I called all mine saying had closed the joint account (didn't say why) and could they switch. Everyone was helpul, most did it over the phone but a few sent me forms to fill in but no hassle really.
Regarding the 'recoveries' for the most part the recoveries people i have spoken to have been polite, respectful and not at all threatening or scary. Of course there will be an awkward one here & there, if they ever give you trouble say 'its not convenient to talk right now' & hang up. Then write to then, saying you no longer accept phone communications from them due to verbal harrassment. As soon as you say SC DMP they seem to be happy enough. One of my debts has just got sold on to a DCA called Link, when I called them they were not able to help me as the debt details hadn't been uploaded, but were pleasant and I'd be happy to speak to them again.
If you are worried about 'them sending the boys around' don't worry, making your agreed payments should keep you from any court action. There is a useful section on SC which I found helpful to read so I could sleep easy at night and not worry about hiding the TV.
I used to dread letters bringing bills, and still have many months of unopened ones. Since the DMP I open everything, & its mainly good news. Quite a lot of my debts are now non-statemented & I miss getting letters. Perhaps I'll have to get a pen-pal.
Oh well bed time beckonsDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Hi AngelPoppy and welcome :hello:
Well done on paying off so much of your debts :T
If you are happy to now self manage your DMP, it would be a great idea to transfer it from this fee paying company and use that extra money towards your debt.
The CAB has a completely online self managed service which includes transferring your DMP from another company. Please check it out and see what you think:

Hi all and welcome to all the newbies
It's been 6 days since I posted and I've had 7 pages to catch up! Its 5 days since I went back to work and despite it being 3 or 4 hours a day it's been exhausting - but brilliant. Feels great to be back to real life. Each afternoon was spent semi- conscious on the sofa except Thursday, when I was off and spent the day getting DD1 ready for prom. Life has been utter chaos! I'm not sure how I got through it. Also managed to lose my surgery recovery weight gain at SW (4lb off this week) and DH treated me to a night out on Friday. Had literally £3 to my name, came home very tipsy and with an extra £10 from winning at cards
Not a lot going on here financially, just plodding along happily (too knackered to spend) and everyone is playing quietly although they don't know they're getting half payment until Wednesday.
Monkeyballs I am over the moon for you! I've actually got a massive grin on my face foe your "win" and as I didn't spot anyone point it out I want to say take a step back and look at your plans for the money. Right there is cause for celebrating, only a few months ago you'd have had very different plans for the money and you are so excited about reducing your debts.
I do have one bit of potentially good news. On my 3rd day back at work I broached the subject (casually) about a very substantial raise. All an informal discussion but there's possibly a new job opportunity in the offing and my request for a 30% increase wasn't immediately dismissed or laughed at. In fact it was implied that I was worth it and we had a rough chat/plan on how to get it :j I really have to knuckle down this week to get the foundation laid but it's possible and we all know how determined I can beSo glad I asked now
Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Thanks Sazzie, Not quite indispensable (I don't believe anyone is) but they've realised just how much I do and they're VERY glad I'm backBest to strike while the iron is hot though, got a lot of hard work coming up but I'm certain I can do it. This has really boosted my confidence. Today I get to see one of my best friends (he had last week off) and I was up with the first alarm because I'm actually looking forward to work

Welcome back Kate.
Well I did the thing that I was most dreading.....I phoned three of my main creditors to advise them that my payments would be coming from SC and not on their designated dates. I was petrified that they would go mad on the phone. Instead the gentleman on the phone told me to "stop worrying and make yourself a cup of tea".
I'm not phoning L1ttlewoods or Very as I've heard that they are the worst. Growling pittbulls.
So 6 of my 9 creditors have now accepted the plan albeit for 12 months in some cases. Better than nothing.
I wish I had that LBM two or three years ago.LBM 2 June 20140
