Hi all looking for some cheering up please.
work is awful at the moment and have managed to overcome one obstacle and another 10 fall right on top of me. Getting me really down. Job is well paid, not that you'd know from my sig. so its hard to find another that pays as well. But at the moment could really do with some light.
Helifx are continuing with threatening letters for not paying full amount despite writing to them but as yet still charging interest.
As you can tell by time of post its affecting my sleep now.

Sorry things are bad at the moment and hope work situation improves soon. Mr TTFTM is in the same situation, he hates his job and feels like he is being forced out but cannot afford to leave and can't find anything that pays a similar salary
Re Halifax, did you make an official complaint and follow it up with a referral to the FOS? Apologies if I have asked this before, I'm old and I forget
Am hoping MB bounces in and makes you smile!

Be assured you are doing the right thing. I have a bit more debt than you to clear and equity in my house (not enough to clear my debts mind) and none of my creditors (started at 14) went down that route. Stick with it and deal with issues as they occur. Try not to think too much about the 'what ifs' - easier said than done I knowHi all looking for some cheering up please.

So sorry you hear you're feeling down at the moment. I'm not overly happy with my job, well and truly stuck in a rut with nowhere to go, but I focus on the future when I'm debtfree and the hope that I'll have more options as to what I do job-wise because I could then afford to earn less.
I'm having issues with Halifax and I encourage you to do what TTFTM has suggested. Firstly though get Halifax to put in writing why they are refusing to stop interest and add that to the documents you send off to the FOS.

You are doing the right thing, our debt is slightly higher than yours, we also have enough equity in our home to cover it, but re-mortgaging wasn't really a viable option, due to several factors. No Creditors have suggested bankruptcy to us, but then it cost them money to make you bankcrupt, and with a DMP they are getting their money back at no costs to themselves, only over a longer time period than was originally agreed :-)

There's always a possibility it could happen, but personally I'd think it's unlikely to go down that route.
For them to consider bky as a viable alternative, they'd have to have sufficient evidence that you're never going to pay the debt back or are actively trying to avoid paying anything towards it. Going on a DMP shows you're willing to repay, just at a rate that's comfortable for you. The other thing they would have to accept is that bky would see them get virtually nothing - if your statement of affairs show you're unable to repay in full, bky won't change that unless they somehow include an attachment of earnings to your wages - I'm not sure about the finer details but I'm not sure they can do that at the bky stage as the case would have to be passed to someone like a liquidator to value income and assets.
The likeliest outcome if one of them rejects the DMP outright is they might file for a CCJ - again, this would only serve to cut their own noses off to spite their faces. A DMP is an informal agreement, but if it goes to court, the judge agrees with the current repayment rate and sets the CCJ at that amount, it then becomes legally binding and they can't really come back and demand higher repayments.
DMP providers advise you simply continue play ng at the rate set out by them even if the creditor rejects the proposal - the debt will either then be sold onto a DCA, or the creditor will eventually accept the repayment, depending who they are.0 -
Car update for those interested....
Just got my local garage to have a look underneath the car, and it's the lower control arm bushes. Mainly on the drivers' side, but the passenger's side is on it's way out as well and as they have to drop the subframe a bit, it's worth doing both at the same time.
Waiting for them to email me a quote as they were utterly hectic when I took it in, but it won't get any worse so I can drive it (CAREFULLY!!!!) until it can go in to get it done, and hopefully it won't be a huge cost - the bushes themselves are only about £30 a set at most, but it's the labour that might be costly - I may have squeaked a bit in fright when they mentioned dropping the subframe as that in its' own sounds like a pricey job!
At least I know what it is now!0 -
Just updating on the situation re BC who had reinstated interest and charges. Got a quick response to my letter and was asked to call them which we did. Result is they are refunding interest and charges on both CCs and will be reducing interest to 1% which I can live with.
I'll leave it a couple of months and then I'll push them towards a default.
So two down, one to go.... I'm coming to getcha HfxLBM: March 2013 / DMP Start: 1 July 2013 / 14 Creditors

Hi. Can anyone help me. I'm in the process of organising a DMP wit SC. I applied to the cooperative for a basic current account and they have refused. I'm really confused as I thought they wouldn't do a credit check (and they have) and that they would approve it. Can anyone offer any advice as I can't go forward with the DMP if I can't get a basic account to have my wages paid into.0

Antics! Moi!!
Sorry the job is so rubbish J14. Do you want my job? The pay is rubbish but the people are nice:D Oh and the scenery is very pretty too looking out of my office window if you like sheep.
Eeeeenywaaaay, messing around in the garden last night, chewing on some gum (I was staving off the hunger pangs - don't ask) out fell my gold crown. Fortunately I didn't swallow it so I am hoping the dentist can just stick it back in, cos it cost a lot of money when I had it done. So that's a boo, but on the upside the warning light still hasn't come back on in the car so that's a woohoo!DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421
