HI,
I had a loan for £4,000 with Welcome finance some time in the 1990's
I do not know the exact date or policy number.
How can I try a claim for PPI without this information as every website I have visited wants to know this information!
Cheers:beer:

You do not need to visit a claims management company to make a PPI claim. You can do it yourself. However if you do not know any details about the PPI you had then simply, you cannot make a claim.0

And Welcome Finance weren't regulated then, so can dismiss your complaintNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Do you actually remember having the PPI,
If neither you nor Welcome finance have any documentation then you don't stand a chance.
I would just move on...make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Have a look at Cattles website, they might be handling Welcome finance complaints according to the FSA register. You need to find some proof of payment and an account number for the loan. If you paid it by direct debit, this info should be on your current account statements.HI,

You'll have to complain to the insurers, as Welcome won't look at a mis-sale allegation for a PPI which was sold pre-GISC regulation. Why don't you contact Welcome by phone and see what they say?HI,

Cattles own Welcome and don't investigate PPI complaints. Welcome do that themselves, unless it's pre-GISC regulation or post 2005.0 -
I don't know if this of any help to you but I had a loan with welcome finance in 1999, I contacted them and had to pay them £10 for a copy of my payments/account. The problem that I have is that on the info, it doesn't show who I paid the PPI to. Welcome told me it was Aviva, but Aviva said it wasn't them. I contacted Welcome finance back and they said that they had made a mistake, and they do not know who the PPI provider was, and they don't have records to state who they used in 1999.0

Even if you find out who the insurer was, you still face the problem that an insurer is not normally liable for the actions of the seller and the sale predates regulation.0
