Good Morning Folks

Does anybody know if the government car scrappage scheme is still operating? As you know, this is where you buy a brand new car in exchange for your old car which is more than 10 years old, and the government gives £2000 as a discount towards the purchase of the new car.

If not, when was is stopped?

Thank You

It was only a short term policy to try & boost the economy prior to the election.

Some very nice classics ended up being scrapped unfortunately.

And there I was thinking it was an earnest attempt to help save the planet from Global Not-Been-Warming-For-Almost-A-Quarter-Century by getting us all to drive new cars that are more efficient on a test-bed rather than a cynical attempt to buy votes!

indeed and all most people bought with the £2k allowance was Kia Picantos and other mundane soulless charisma vacuums, which I'm sure helped to boost our economy

When sellers use schemes like this, they are only trying to preserve the ludicrous "list" price. Find the car you want at a convenient dealer and haggle.

these schemes are to get you in the door and interested in a product. they are not actually going to give you a 2k.
