Great idea, wasn't it - take a car that has already got 95% of its lifetime pollution behind it, throw it away, and make a new car using fresh raw materials and huge amounts of energy. And call it a green policy.

Nothing greener than an old, well-maintained Land Rover when you look at lifetime environmental impact.

It was only a short term policy to try & boost the economy prior to the election.

Some very nice classics ended up being scrapped unfortunately.

Plenty of cars were not scrapped straight away - just parked on disused arifrields.

    - which made a change from unsold new cars parked on disused airfields

More than six out of ten of all Rolls-Royce Motor cars built are still roadworthy. It's the green car ahead of its time.

Here's one dealer offering a £3k minimum part-exchange (Skoda, not RR).

Wow, I wonder if that applies to the Citigo, which is a car I am interested in:)

Shame they are so far away from the West Country:( Cars are always more expensive down here.

Would have helped us more if it was £2k scrappage off cars that were built in the UK only. Not cheap Korean imports.
