Replacing a locked, fault UPVC window handle

The locking mechanism isn't particularly clever, usually just a metal pin or plastic catch. A drill and/or multitool would probably solve it. Can you remove one of the others and check how it locks? You'd then know where to cut/drill. Good luck!0

Hi can anyone help me please. The handle & spindle has pulled off of my window so do I need a new handle or gear box? I have been reading other threads but just not sure which I need.0

Probably just a handle. If unsure, try removing one from another window, fitting it and seeing if it will work?0 -
If you're daring you can use one of those flat bladed multi-tools with the oscillating blade. Slide the blade in the gap between the handle and the backplate and cut it off to expose the screws, it's then a case of fitting a new handle. Only cut the lever part of the handle off, enough to expose the screws, don't try and cut the whole handle mechanism off as that will most likely damage the window itself.
By the time you have bought the tools and a handle though it could be cheaper to just get someone in.0 -
Hi,
I have the key.
The window handle have a metal button which should pop out before I can move the handle to 9 o'clock opening position.
Now, the key turns, but mental button doesn't pop out so that I can't move the handle.
Have you tried brute force on the handle? use a plumbers wrench for some extra purchase. Failing that, attack the button with a screwdriver and hammer.
I can't imagine drilling the lock will help as you've already said the key works.0 -
