Hello strangers!!
Hope everyone is well. It's been so long since i've been on here. I got promoted at work, and then OH and I eloped, so life has been hectic to say the least!
Still trying to live the OS way, it was really hard to get back into cooking after being away, but getting there!
Found a butchers last week the deliver locally and are so reasonable, freezer is full of chicken and mince for £20 and free delivery!!
Tonight is cheat night, and pizza is on the menu as have the grocery delivery arriving.
Will try and stop in more often, hope everyone is well.0 -
Afternoon all,
I went to see my Mom this afternoon. It was the hardest visit ive ever had to make.
Not only did she not make any sense, she kept referring to Martin and the big teddy bear. She was referring to Martin my very first boyfriend and how upset I was when he went off to study. The teddy was I think she was referring to the 4ft teddy I had as a child. Then she started mentioning my brother. Her facial expressions and odd words led me to believe she is worried about him. I know she's worried, she's been worried for the last 48 years that he's going to be 'taken advantage of'.
I got to speak to the senior carer about Moms health. She's got a list of things wrong a mile long. The worst being kidney disease. Apparently she had suffered Bells Palsy as a child which resulted in facial paralaysis. Apparently its manifested itself in recent months. She asked me about the relationship I had with my Mother and brother and the tears started to roll. I haven't stopped crying since. Mom held my hand and said Judith my favourite which made me cry even more. I'm not sure what she understood. If I was her favourite why did she treat me so bad?
Anyway, I'm feeling pretty tearful at the moment. Good job days like today don't happen very often.

Evening all,
Been a nice day here.
Had post today from DD3 in Australia, an early birthday present of several knitting and crochet magazines...cost her $56au to post! Decided to try the Viber network she advised me to download to phone her....worked like a dream, clear as a bell, so she will be sick of me now as it is FREE!
Went grocery shopping today, think that I have almost enough food to last for most of the month now.....trouble is that OH goes for paper every morning, has a look around the shop and buys whatever is on offer....he does pay out of his own money, but adds to the food backlog.
Hester, I think that you are a saint that you dont flatten some of the powers that be in your place of slavery! Glad to hear that the twins are doing so well...how is poor mum coping?
Judi...big hugs to you...from personal experience its easiest if you just react as if what your mother is saying makes perfect sense. The tears are allowed too as they ease pain .
Kind thoughts and positive vibes to all, especially those facing exams.

Hi Rachel congratulations on the birth of your little boy :jthough it doesnt sound as though you had an easy time of it,hope he's doing ok now.
I think it sounds like you're doing pretty well if you can sort out a sc stew for tea when he's still so young-I've had my 6mth old Grandson this afternoon,we all had to have something quick cos I've had my hands full, managed to whack some chicken in a jar of sauce and cook rice while he had a little nap,& I'm shattered. You'll find loads of threads on the OS board about slow cookers ,meal plans etc- if you can find time to read them that isxx

judi Honey have a hug and as my DD would say a 'there, there' its so hard when its your Mum isn't itor even your dad for that matter as they are the first folk you interact with as children. If you fell like howling then howl away honey we've all had times like that and a good rant sometimes helps, as life is so unfair at times.
The weather today was a wee bit windy, but bright and sunny at least. My garden is looking quite smart at the moment and Gardener mick made a good job of it this morning, and bless him I now have a new washing line up as well.
Just going to have some dinner shortly then its feet up and a bit of T.V. and some knitting, that takes cars of tonight.
<hugs> for anyone else in need of one
Gonzo1987 welcome back:)
rachel6188 congratulations on the birth of your son,it must have been a worrying time for you. Take it easy and don't overdo things,my youngest DDs last baby was by c-section and it took her awhile to get back on her feet (it was also her 5th)luckily I live only a few roads away so I was there daily for around 6 weeks to help her out:) the little scamp was 10 last Sunday and the time seems to have whizzed by
:)
Right time for dinner my tummy thinks
Cheers chums
