    Morning all,

I'm tired, I'm grumpy. I didn't sleep well last night I kept tossing and turning, then the dog wanted to go out, then I needed a wee. Blimey i'll be needing matches to keep my eyes open later on, or I might do what I usually do, fold my hands in front of me at my desk and lay my head on my hands and drift off to sleep.

'Youngest' at college, hubby doing another late one at work. He had a run in with the site foreman yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised if he quits today. It wouldn't be the first time he's walked out on a job and I'm sure it wont be the last.

Not a lot needs doing in the house. I was going to visit Mom this morning but my daughter wants me to have my Grandson for an hour.

Mucky_moo well done on coming off the anti depressants. I have been on and off them for years. I started off with post natal depression 18 years ago and it sort of carried on. I tried coming off them late last year before admitting defeat a couple of months ago.

Nmlc hubby keeps complaining about his weight. He's the heaviest now he's ever been. He's got skinny arms, skinny legs and a very fat tummy. He looks very pregnant and has recently bought some braces to keep his trousers up when he's at work. He too goes on about needing to lose weight but resists every attempt I make to help him (and me).

Right, I need to get on. I need to retrieve my recycle bags before the school kids kick them into the road on the way to school.

    Onwards and forwards,
    have a great day all.

    Morning all,

I'm out with dh this morning, just a couple of jobs to do and then we are going to look for some slate tiles for the fireplace. We need to update the hearth as a couple of the ones on there are broken. To be honest they were just cheapy ones we used when we moved in but they've done the job. This time want some that will last until we move eventually.
I organised my kitchen drawers and utensils yesterday, I've been working my way through the house organising things that were bugging me. So far I've done my make up drawer, under the bed, my wardrobe, and the bedding. That was the worst, lots of old bobbly sheets that I would never put on the bed. They've been passed to hubby for painting sheets.
I'm a bit obsessed with you tube videos on organisation at the moment, I love watching people clean as well, I know its a sickness:D
I have promised myself a manicure and pedicure when I get a stone off so just half a pound to go.
Only 20 days until my brother arrives from Australia, can't wait. We have a big family party planned at the end of the month which will be lovely.
Had a long chat with my son yesterday, just wanted to make sure his exams were not stressing him out, he's usually extremely laid back, he seems ok but just reminded him as long as he does his best we will be happy with the results. There are always other routes to go down if Uni doesn't pan out.
    mucky moo welcome back x
Well enough waffle, have a good Thursday xx

DGS Ben has his first 'A' level English Lit exam tomorrow and I asked him if he was ok and he said 'Yes Gran not a problem I have revised everything' .Oh to be so confident bless him. I wouldn't have been at his age ,mind you I was married and had a husband at his age :):):)
NSD today as I am shopping from my cupboards and freezer this month as much as I can I have to pay the balance of the holiday today so purses will be tightened for awhile :):)
Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing

    Morning all,

Hester - hope little Ted is recovering well.

It's my DS1's 24th birthday today. I rang him this morning, it was so nice to speak to him and hear his voice. I haven't actually spoken to him since I saw him in March. We do FB and texts etc but nothing beats hearing your kids is there?

Done the usual chores this morning and just waiting for the second machine load to finish. The sun is shining but it's quite windy and its getting cloudier!

    Have a good day all.

    Morning all

Got woken up at about 4:30 by the cats playing tag with a duckling:mad:

The poor things, been in a cat box in the shed for its own protection since, with a bowl of water and some seed.

I phoned RSPCA about 8, who told me that they don,t 'do' foul, but keep it in a box for 24 hrs to see if it lives.

It doesn,t appear hurt, has a small make on its tummy, the duckling is fairy big, about 8 inches, I think it may have been ducknapped from a nearby large pond on private land, but am worried if I take it back and its not from there that it will get killed.

Thanks all, will come back later to read xx

The RSPB recommend contacting the RSPCA so I think someone may be telling you incorrect information. I remember a few years ago that the RSPCA came and rescued a duck and her ducklings who were trying to cross the main ring road in Liverpool in the middle of rush hour!

Alternatively you could try somewhere on this website:

    http://www.helpwildlife.co.uk/

I hope you manage to get the duckling sorted

    Welcome back Mucky-Moo

It has stayed dry here today, so much better than yesterday, so the washing lines are full of washing, some of the towels have already dried so they are in.

I have spent most of the morning pottering in the greenhouse. The seedlings are all potted up now and I want to sow some more next week, so we have a continuous turnover of veggies.

Snoozer  It makes you wonder how some of these people become managers!

DH has stripped the woodburner and given it a thorough cleaning this morning.
We will have the chimney swept and stove checked around September time, it costs £90 here  So I think I need to shop around a bit.
No wonder DH wants to see how it is done so he can do it himself after this one, he has all the brushes, so that will save us some money.

Ruby how is your Dad x

Off to get dinner on because DH is swimming again tonight.
We are having Aldi's Bratwurst, stuffed mushrooms and salad :D

I may have to relinquish my old style hat :( DH has been looking at the utility bills and we are using far more gas and electricity than a house this size normally does. Deep shame! :o

Have decided to make sure nothing is on standby and make better use of dishwasher and fathom out the quick wash on new machine.

Trouble is with five adults and me, DH and a DD home all day things rack up.

Will try to get thermal cooking bag sewn next week and have started using a vacuum jug to keep water hot for drinks rather than always using the kettle.

Making fish and low cal chips with peas tonight. Starting to cook base for moussaka tomorrow and bake a home made loaf. DD has asked for home made pizza whirls and mini quiches to take with her for a few days away tomorrow.

Managed to take a load of books back to the library and collect prescriptions for everyone while i was out so pleased with getting that done.

    Hugs to all.

Realised last post was a bit misleading as not all five adults are home all day just me and DH (retired).

Youngest is back from uni with loads of washing etc.

We are going to try a few energy saving ideas as outlined above and see if that makes a difference.
