OS Daily Thursday 5th June

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning all
Can't sleep so I got up to save disturbing hubby.
Hugs to Molly, Hilly & LW.
Mrs LW, lovely to see you posting on the Daily
Topsy, I hope DGC is coming along ok. TTFM, I hope hubby isn't having too many probs at work.
The twins are now up to 6lb 1 & 6lb 8 respectively, little Ted had his tongue cut last week, his tongue tie was so severe his tongue was heart shaped.
Camelot & MM, I got through my appraisal, I ticked some boxes, tut I'm probably still carp, I can't win, as soon as I achieve my targets others are added, I know targets are good, but not when it comes to stuff like ordering a years worth of paper quarterly instead of monthly when I don't have enough storage space.
Hubby is doing lots of overtime as his team is still short staffed, he's very tired, bt is pleased with the extra money.
I need to get my meals better organised as I'm now taking 2 grandchildren to after school stuff twice a week, so I need to be better organised on those days.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning All

Raining here, it started about 11am yesterday and hasn't really stopped since, serves me right for putting washing out 2 days in a row! Luckily DS2 knew the washing was out and got it in so it was almost dry.

Off to a school thing all day today with some children, not sure what I am doing really, hope the children can talk it through ok. The person who would normally take them has an appointment so can't go with them. Still, lunch is provided so that's a bonus!

Chicken curry last night, chorizo risotto tonight. Only a couple of bits of ironing so not worth getting the board out, will leave it till there's more.
House could do with a good hoover, I will wizz through the housework tomorrow when I get in from work, I find that Friday afternoon housework means that I don't have to do much over the weekend.

HH - How are you supposed to do your job when they keep moving the goalposts? Muppets. Glad the twins are doing well, I am sure Ted will be over his op soon.
mucky_moo - good to see you back, what a busy time you've had.

Oh well, shower and then work, hospice later. Take care. XX

    Morning :hello:

The chickens were a bit quiet on monday, on tuesday they were flapping about – I think there was a rearrangement of the pecking order going on :D I thought it might last a few days but they were settled yesterday. Poor Millie tried her best but is still at the bottom :D Happy chicks

The weather was miserable yesterday, it rained all day. It's looking better today.

I've shredded loads of paper for the nesting boxes, I won't have to do any more for about three months :D

I've had an urge to organise for days, so I emptied the hall cupboard and sorted it. I was given an office drawer unit, it's got twenty shallow drawers so is most useful :D I'm using it for backing papers, card and photo paper. This frees up space for the laminator, binding machine, etc. We've put a double electric socket in the cupboard so the printer, shredder etc. can be used in there. It's my office-in-a-cupboard :D

The house is spotless and all the washing is done, so today is all work work work :D

    Have a good day x

Beautiful day here off to work for me and OH, dd still in bed will give her a shout just before I go, she is off to London tonight for Snoop dog gig so it will be a very late night / early morning for her.

Something with chips for dinner, I think there might be some fish fingers will have a look in a moment.

Mum has signed contracts on her house but has no moving date, she really needs to get herself organised as she will be moving soon and still has loads to do.

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, overcast, dull, dreich windy and now cold too.

DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.

Dinner last night was HM smoked bacon, chicken and mushroom risotto – it was delicious, there was plenty and everyone had a good bowl full – but DH doesn’t find it’s enough and says now he’ll be hungry all day today! It wasn’t very long ago when I told you all on here that he had asked that I cut down his portions – so I have and now he’s still not happy! B****y men! Tonight we’ll be having either roast chicken or roast pork, new potatoes from the garden, veg and gravy – hoping that suits DH! Tough if it doesn’t, I’m not going to be messed about.

Work yesterday was ok, except we had our meeting with the boss about the proposed changes that are being made to our staffing – it’s going to be a complete nightmare and not really workable but the management are not listening. I asked that the team be shown the statistics that they used from the current working arrangements that support the proposed changes – they don’t have any!!! It’s a complete farce, there was no real answers for any of our questions. I know that I felt completely demoralised, and devalued when I came out of that meeting, most of my colleagues felt the same way. There was years’ worth of experience in that room and we were not listened to or our concerns really taken on board – we know that the proposed changes are not workable but it’s going to be pushed on us and we’re going to be left to get on with it. And breathe ….. rant over.

I have all the normal chores to do today – so will crack on and get those done. Would like to get packed too as we’re going away at the weekend, forecast for Saturday doesn’t look very good though, we’ll just make the best of a bad job, need to get away – we’re meeting friends so we’ll have some time with them.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all

Got woken up at about 4:30 by the cats playing tag with a duckling:mad:

The poor things, been in a cat box in the shed for its own protection since, with a bowl of water and some seed.

I phoned RSPCA about 8, who told me that they don,t 'do' foul, but keep it in a box for 24 hrs to see if it lives.

It doesn,t appear hurt, has a small make on its tummy, the duckling is fairy big, about 8 inches, I think it may have been ducknapped from a nearby large pond on private land, but am worried if I take it back and its not from there that it will get killed.

Thanks all, will come back later to read xx

    Hi everyone,

Nmlc, what a nightmare, sounds like typical govt department (I assume it is a govt dept) thinking. Mind you, I've said before here that everyone I know seems to be under stress at work because they have to do more work in less time.

DH had his appraisal last week and after telling him he was indispensable and lots of other nice things the new idiot manager gave him the worst grade he's had in 28 years because he didn't realise how the grading system worked! Hopefully it will be rectified this week but DH is now looking to change departments.

I didn't go shopping yesterday, I bought some bras online, the brand I usually buy at Bravissimo but reduced. I shall go today because I want some cheap jersey fabric to make a toile of a pattern for a top I have, I always have to do a bust adjustment to get them to fit.

Apart from that I want to clean the bathroom (whatever made us think 3 bathrooms was a good idea) and the utility room. I am leaving all the hard floors for DH to go over with the steam cleaner this weekend. I must remember to clean the font door as well, we have a shared front lawn which DH usually mows but when next door do it they use a flymo which throws clippings all over the place.

    Better go, I've started rambling!

Have a good day, especially Mrs lurcher, enjoy zebra.
