BT overcharging for unlimited broadband

Echoing other replies, you agreed to pay £27 a month for the package they offered at the time, just because BT have decided to offer some new broadband packages since then, doesn't mean that they have to go out of their way to get everyone switched over to the new packages. Some people might not like them. Unfortunately, it is your responsibility to check the price you pay for your broadband periodically. This doesn't count as overcharging as you agreed to pay the price they are charging you.0

£27.14 seems to be BT's price for older customers of option 3 with evening calls. In previous years they were allowed to roll your contract over for another 12 months if you did not leave or renegotiate. As there are now laws in place to stop them from doing this they continue your plan on a monthly basis without a contract at the highest rate. It is unfair and something which was meant to protect consumers actually harms them as BT remove all previous discounts until you recontact.
If you were to ring up and ask for a mac code they would offer £13.65 for a 12 month contract but this is not their best offer. I have had better luck by requesting a mac via their online form. See thread 'bt negotiations' for more info on how to do this.0 -
Many thanks for the positive comments, I actually got a call from one of the complaint reps today who offered me next 12 months at £10.640

If you haven't accepted yet you could request a MAC code. BT have been offering cheaper retention offers than that but not over the phone. If you have accepted, not to worry. It is a few quid cheaper than their standard retention offer anyway but you should know that you still have the option to cancel as you are not in contract until 00:01 on the first day of your new contract, which would probably be tomorrow. It is still a risk as you don't really know for sure if you would get a better offer than the one you already have got.0
