The other option is to email the CEO - search online for his email address. I did this and got a reply the same day to say they had spoken to the passport office and got my passport approved that day - it arrived one working day later!
Thank you for this, I've now emailed MP and CEO so I'll see what happens. Hopefully something as I was told today that first available appointment for the one week fast track is 4 July!0 -

After hearing about my problem, my friend called yesterday to book his renewal and he got offered a London appointment for today and a peterborough for next week. I can only assume it's different for those eligible for the one day service. Mine is a child renewal so not eligible for the one day service.
On the plus side, MPs office got back to me to say they had contacted the passport office on my behalf so hopefully passport will rock up this week sometime.0 -
Like a lot of you, my experience getting a passport has been a nightmare. But I will contribute by quoting this DIRECT number to Durham Passport Office 08456015175, just hold the line while it says "This number is only for someone with a letter...", someone will answer it. It is miles more helpful than the completely useless 0300 number.0
