Nightmare of the passport

Please has anyone got Durham Passport Office telephone number that they could PM me? My daughters new passport application has been stuck at Durham for nearly 5 weeks. I have rung the general number loads who tell me they have put in requests for Durham to call me in 48 hrs, this hasn't happened!! I know there is a number as been reading threads on other sites. I am desperate as she is due to go on holiday late July and the way things are carrying on this isn't going to happen :o(

I need to call Durham as wasted too many days sat in waiting for a call from them.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

i believe the standard wait time at the moment for new passports is 6 weeks, so really the passport office haven't gone over their timescale yet for your daughters passport.

have you tried the 0845 6015107 number given out in an earlier thread about passport waiting times? Stay on the line, don't pick any of the automated options.

Thanks for that. Is that the number for the Durham office? We did the check and send service at the post office with her cousins. Her cousin has received her back but nothing further on ours. I telephoned the other general enq line who have been NO help at all. They said her passport should of been a turn around of 4 weeks but it is still with a examiner. I received a text on 1/5/14 to say they have received it but nothing since. If there is a problem with supporting docs etc you would think that they would of contacted us by now to get it moving.

I'm glad I've found this thread.

My wife phoned to enquire as to the whereabouts of my daughter's first passport. The payment (cheque) was processed on 9th May, so taking that date as 'day 1', it'll be five weeks this Friday, and still no passport.

We are getting a little worried now. We don't go abroad until the 17th July, but news of a massive backlog with passport applications, and a potential strike, is not helping our nerves.

Also, I'm KICKING myself for not writing the passport application number down. Without it, they will not tell us the current status of the application. Let this be a warning to anyone applying via post - WRITE THE NUMBER DOWN!

They have said someone from the Durham office will phone in 48 hours. Here's hoping that a) they do, and b) they can put our minds at rest.

If they don't phone, we have these useful telephone numbers to fall back on, so thanks for putting these up.

I would have thought that Teleperformance have a SLA they need to meet. I wonder if forcing callers to take a callback which they don't get is a way around this. There must be a long queue that is all I can say. I have been waiting for the next available operator since 7pm yesterday.

I sent a message last night, I wonder if it will take five days to get something like:

"Thank you for your email of 15/05/2014 about the customer service received from Her Majesty’s Passport Office.

We note that you were unable to contact us or our call centre partners, Teleperformance (TP). Unfortunately due to peak demand and increased volumes of calls experienced by both TP and ourselves, we have been unable to meet 100 percent of agreed service levels during this peak period.

We value all feedback and your comments have been passed to the relevant department.

We are currently monitoring the situation and are investigating ways to improve the service we provide.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused as a result of this matter."

Did anyone have any luck with the Peterborough office? My passport is there and I'm getting absolutely no where with the 0300 number, they can send an email, and that's it.

Supposed to have had several callbacks with no luck.
