Bicarbonate/baking soda..

Having got bicarb from a Chinese Supermarket, we found we had a Big pot of the stuff - child's head size! (With change from £3.)
When said child dropped his spag bol on the carpet there was a quick scraping up, handfuls of bicarb scattered over the affected area, then stiff brush & hoover next morning. What Spag Bol incident?!
Will apply a paste onto the cooker this evening....0 -
Never used it on a cooker before- will be trying that one this weekend!
It did a fab job in our shower that was badly mildewed when we moved in. I mixed it with bleach and 'painted' it on. Left overnight and when I rinsed it off next morning it looked like fresh grout.0 -
Does it work well in the bath? I have marks near my plug hole which I can't budge at all. Don't want to use anything very abrasive and cause surface damage. I have used it to clean mugs many times. Very effective.0

My dentist has told me to use bi carb daily first thing in the morning to clean my teeth. It obviously has many uses.0

I hadn't finished buffing the door on this picture, but look at the sheen on the oven shelves! https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t1.0-9/10350450_10154211507830398_4891998235512037603_n.jpg

That looks amazing! Just what mine needs. How did you do it? Did you soak the shelves in water/bicarb or coat in a paste? How long did you leave it for?
Should not be this excited about a shiny oven...0 -

Haha don't worry I won't tell anyoneI got an old Tupperware and mixed the paste and then smeared it on the inside of the oven. Ideally leave over night and then scrub, I left mine for half hour.
Then in the bath I got an old towel and laid the shelves on that, shallow bath with bicarb and water. Boiled the kettle a couple of times and poured that on too. Give it a good scrub after an hour or so, again ideally leave over night. If there's still stubborn dirt then add some paste to the areas0 -
Well operation oven clean is in progress. The oven is currently coated with bicarb and I'll do the shelves after I've been for a run/shower. I also used baby oil on my stainless steel splashback and extracter hood and it is looking brand new again. OH is away so taking the opportunity to have a spring (summer?) clean.0

I used it to:
- get the stench of dog out of a 2nd-hand sofa
- clean grout by mixing a paste with lemon juice and leaving on for 10-20 mins then scrubbing with a toothbrush
- clean our hideous drains that were properly clogged up. Chucked a load down followed by a liberal slug of vinegar, left overnight and finished off with a jug of boiling water.
I love bicarb!0
