Queen's new £3M golden carriage! Ridiculous!

Just saw the new carriage the Queen will be travelling to Parliament in.

3 million pounds it has cost US!!!

Nice for the Royals that they don't suffer from a 'cost of living' crisis isn't it!

About time these parasites were kicked out.

    What an absurd post!

It hardly benefits the queen if her carriage is covered in gold leaf.

It's just a part of the general pageantry of state and will have been planned and approved by civil servants and the government.

It's basically an investment in the tourist industry.

What an absurd post' there is absolutley no proof that the royal family do anything for tourism over and above the estimated £200,000,000 they cost us annually with all the " free" security we provide , the only way to " prove" beyond doubt that they benefit us in any way financially is to remove them , which won't happen . The royals benefitting tourism is just unsubstantiated garbage used by royalists to attempt to justify the expense these parasites cost the taxpayer

Urgh. When I saw this story on the BBC News this morning I told my OH sooner or later someone would be moaning about it! The Royal family aren't going anywhere, they've been around for hundreds of years and I'm sure they will be sticking around a while longer, living a very nice life yes, so what if it's at the expense of the taxpayer? I'd rather my taxes went to preserving one of the few nice, British things we have left, which DOES bring in tourism, rather than paying child benefit for kids in Poland, or for Shaniqua's eighth baby, Nando. Urgh. My rant over.

Well the Diamond Jubilee brought in £10bn from additional tourism, not a bad ROI

The annual 'cost' of the Royal Family is actually 15% of the net profits from the Crown Estates which are currently putting in around £170M into the government coffers after grants to the Royal Family are deducted.

It would have been politicians who made these decisions. Let's identify the real parasites here.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I wonder how much benefits cost us every year so people can sit at home posting on forums rather than working?

    £billions.

I've quoted selectively and edited it but...............
Is that not just as bad?

It was but don't bring facts into somebody's rant, it spoils it for them.

Mr Frecklington received initial funding from the Australian government but also used his own money to construct the carriage.
