Bargains for broadband?

Good evening,

I am due to move in to my house and I was wondering if anyone out there knew of any deals. We want to keep costs down as much as possible as we are first time buyers and obviously need to be extremely savvy for the first months as we are so used to the bank of mum and dad paying the bills every month.

We don't want the tv package as we have bought a tv with freeview and this will do us fine, we want broadband but don't want a phone line however we are happy to take the phone line and not use it.

Any help would be appreciated especially any cash back or voucher incentives.

Virgin Cable with no phone line?

Would you be prepared to pay for the phone line 12 months up front? It lowers the costs by a lot ie £15-£16 to £10-£11. There are some deal ATM with low cost Broadband [BB] from Plusnet/Talk Talk/Sky.

You would be best to check your estimated connection speed because it could affect whether cable/fibre or BB is more suitable.

This site at the top "What Speed can I get with BT". Enter the phone number or post code to get an estimate. The estimated speeds do tend to be on the low side but it gives you a ballpark figure of what you can expect.

Any ADSL broadband require a working line-which requires you to pay line rental.
Since broadband is exchange-specific, start with an exchange search on samknows.com for your LLU options.

But Cable via Virgin Media do not require a phone line rental which might be useful for anyone who does not require a phone line or hassle.

However a 50Mb package will cost more than the best deals for ADSL2+ BB with a 12 month line rental paid up front. It looks like £26.50/month for 50Mb Cable, much higher than a Plusnet/Sky/Talk Talk BB+phone line.

Indeed, which is why I specified ADSL broadband rather than cable.
Yes, you can drop the phone line from the VM bundle, but the savings will be minimal-it's not as if you actually save what you would otherwise pay in line rental.

TalkTalk, unlimited broadband and standard line rental, £19.45 a month all in.

A good idea is to look for cash back on Quidco and TopCashBack, for example the latter are currently offering £63 cash back in this case.
