    Quoted from lovinituk:
Its seems to be a common complaint of many elderly who have nothing better to do with their day.
As a matter of fact, I live in a cul-de-sac which is a Sheltered Housing complex where we are ALL elderly. No one complains about anyone else parking in front of their house, in fact we often advise visitors where to park to cause no hassle.

Yes, we are all elderly by your standards I guess. Someday, so will you be. My guess is that your current view of the world and its people, will see you become an "Old Git" by the time you reach my age. If you ever do ...

Don't you have parents and grandparents? How unlucky can they be!
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Sister in law having (or rather, had) problems with her neighbours (lives alone). 5 terraced houses and 5 spaces supposedly one for each car, however one house has 2 cars and because she was last one to move in she gets verbal abuse, physical intimidation and a couple of occassions her car vandalised when she parks there, presumably by same people although no evidence (i suggested cameras etc). Police won't do anything other than talked to neighbours and asked them nicely to stop, probably over a cuppa and a biscuit. No where else to park for several hundred metres.

Now i don't particularly like my SiL however i didn't want to see her bullied out her house, which she has now moved out of. I won't go into what i've done, however judging by their comments on facebook, i now consider everything even. I'm not suggesting the OP go about things like i do, i'm reckless and probably stupid, but in life you either accept that when sh#t gets thrown over your fence you can either leave it there, or chuck it back.

Guess you're like me. You don't chuck it back. Your steal a tractor with a muck sprayer, back it through the bay window, turn it on, wipe off your fingerprints, and walk away.

    What would you do?

Would point out to the ranting person that it's foolhardy to threaten to damage my car, given that I now know quite comfortabley where they live, then most likely watch their head turn red and explode.
  • I would make a written report to the Turnip Tops, you're probably not the first person he has abused and not the last . Such behaviour is a civil offence.

If it is a "civil offence" the the "turnip tops" will not be interested !!!

Ranting and abuse might be a civil offence, but threatening criminal damage is not. I would report to the police, simply because someone who threatens to slit my tyres is going well beyond the bounds of what is acceptable. The fact that he is a pensioner as opposed to a 19-year-old in a hoodie is of no relevance.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.
  • I'd be tempted to call 101 and make a report. Near us there have, over the space of about 10 years, been a number of tyre slashings by someone who doesn't like cars parking in his territory. So I don't consider such threats idle.

Say if I had just left the car there and ignored him. Then did come back at the end of the day to find damage done to the car.

Would the man's behaviour in the morning be enough for the police? It obviously would be for me, but if all I had to prove it was my word.

There was another person there, a lady who'd come out of house similar time but obviously just going somewhere, she seemed to be hard of hearing and not really sure what was going on. The man just shouted at her "You don't want to see people's cars outside either do you!?" Which she just said "no" to.

    Just curious.

Calmed down about it by now. But have decided that I will report it to 101, just in case, as others have said, it's happened before or will again or if there is suddenly a report of malicious damage to a car in the area.

Left it there, while them ranting doing something to my car, pull out phone and video them as evidence if anything should happen. Not sure this will anger more though.
