Not necessarily
one possible scenario
Person A = 2 sole + 1 Joint with Person B + 1 Joint with Person C
Person B = 2 sole + 1 Joint with Person A + 1 Joint with Person C
Where A&B are a couple, and C is another family member
Obviously, A&B need to trust C as well as each other :rotfl:
So for just two people the maximum is six accounts for £12K.
Bringing in a third person (as above) allows A&B to access those seven accounts specified and it's a maximum of nine in total for the three participants if C opens a couple of sole accounts too.
For two people to have access to eight accounts would need a total of four participants so Person D would be called for!0 -
Worth reminding people that joint account create a financial association between the two parties on their credit files. You'd need to be very sure you won't get burnt.0

Really sorry but your maths is at fault .... well, in counting number of accounts anyway....Only paragraph you have right is first one .....two people six accounts £12000So for just two people the maximum is six accounts for £12K.Bringing in a third person (as above) allows A&B to access those seven accounts specified and it's a maximum of nine in total for the three participants if C opens a couple of sole accounts too.
Where do you get 7 accounts from?
As badger clearly sets out .... Person A has 2 sole plus 1 joint with person B and 1 with person C
Person B has 2 sole, 1 joint with Person A and 1 joint with person C
Total of 8 accounts (per my original post)
you are right, person C COULD open 2 sole accounts as well making 10 accounts between us (not nine as you state.....) but being selfish we are only concerned about our accounts as a couple...!!
and para 4 ??For two people to have access to eight accounts would need a total of four participants so Person D would be called for!

You are counting the account held jointly by A and B twice, once as A's, and again as B's.Eco Miser

I have three of these accounts on a sole basis, formerly Enhance accounts all converted on line. Three lots of £6.86 interest received today. Lovely jubbly.0

Eco Miser gets it! If A's joint account with B and B's account with A are the same account then the total is seven, but if you treat them as two separate accounts then both A and B would be holding five in total, i.e. beyond the permitted limit.0
