It says HARD DRIVE on the end of what you posted though, that was what gave me the clue.

Looking at the HP page, they are server hard drives - http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/10389310/mfg_partno/655710-B21
This product is compatible with the following HP hardware:
    HP BladeSystems
    HP Servers

So what I think you're going to receive is 3 hard drives that won't fit in a desktop computer.

Ok that makes a bit more sense thanks.

Its just the person that ordered it all has left rather sharpish and under a cloud and the boss has asked me to look into it and while I can work a computer I have no idea how they work, if you know what I mean.

If they are on a server it will be a case of turn it off, open the cover, look and see it the hard drives match what was ordered.

They will fit, how they perform I have no idea.

Being a total luddite here but we recently upgraded our system at work and on the advice of our IT guys purchased

3 x HP 1 TB 6G SATA 7.2K rpm SFF (2.5‐inch) SC Midline 1 year Warranty Hard Drive

which I believed was extra memory to go on to our new PC's
er.. is this right or have I got confuddled?:o

Also if this is extra memory how can I check if it was installed ?

    Thanks P3
These look to be three hard disks for a server (not a desktop PC):
    Storage capacity: 1 TB
    Connector type: SATA
    Data transfer rate: 6 Gbps
    Physical size: 2.5 inch disk
    Disk rotation speed: 7,200 rpm
They'll look something like this: http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product.asp?sku=10389311

If your "IT guys" told you exactly what to purchase why aren't you asking them any follow up questions rather than us?

Since the person that suggested this has left, do you have any other IT guys, or was he all of them? If you don't have any more, who is maintaining your server and who will sort things out if it all falls over?

The reason I ask this is that while installing extra hard drives into a server may be as straightforward as finding a connector and plugging them in (possibly turning it off first, possibly not, depending on whether they and the server support them being hot plugged), there's no guarantee that the server will do anything with them other than feed them electric until you tell it what you want it to use them for.
