Eon - Our Sales Compensation Fund
I have just received a letter from Eon basically telling me they may of mislead me at the time of switching and I have paid more than my previous supplier for Gas and Electric.
To call an 0800 number and speak to someone. Done this and been offered £55 for not being made aware that my costs would be more expensive when they called me.
Thoughts please?

Hiya Beau12
Sounds like all the correct things are happening here.
Some customers will be receiving these letters over the next few weeks and some have been advised to contact us.
I can see you've done this and we've made the payment.
There's lot's of information on our website about the issue and what you can expect, it's under the Help and Support section.
I'm sorry I'm not allowed to post links on the forum

I haven't actually accepted the £55 as I would never of changed over if I didn't think I was getting lower prices. I am more about lowering my bills not increasing them.0

Oh I see,
Then I would say to continue speaking to the team that is dealing with this for you, to ensure you come to a resolution.
Thank you

My wife's mother and aunt received letters from Eon informing them of an amount they would be paid (her Aunt) actually received a cheque, we have received a letter from Eon asking us to let them know what tariff we were on and if we don't know then to contact our previous supplier to find out and inform Eon so they can check if they miss-sold us the letter goes on to inform us what our tariff's were with our previous supplier, given that we like most people only swap if it is about lowering our bills then I'm at a loss as to why we would have swapped from the previous supplier to Eon, and equally at a loss as to why we need to check with our previous supplier given they already (Eon) know what tariff we were on!0

Because if e.on know what tariff you were previously on, they can calculate if you actually switched to a more expensive tariff.
It may well be that you still saved money. OFGEM haven't suggested that everyone was mis-sold.
I've no idea how e.on intend to apportion the money they have been instructed to dole out, but it stands to reason that they'll prioritise those that can be proven to be at a pecuniary disadvantage as a result of their behaviour.0 -
The Energy companies are getting more & more like the Banks! Unscrupulous tactics and now the compensation begins!
The old saying "never trust a used car salesman" needs extending to cover numerous businesses I think!0 -
I completed the online form on EONS website and was contacted asking for my annual consumption for gas and electric prior to being cold called and swapping - i have spent 9 hours on the phone to Scottish Power who keep saying they are unable to help or will contact me back - and dont.
Surely EON should have this information being as they told me that Id save money with them if I changed - which I hasten to add I MOST DEFINATELY HAVENT - Im guessing that Im going to lose out due to the incompatency of both EON and Scottish Power!!!!!!!!!0 -
I just got a letter from Eon saying I am getting £36 compensation paid into my online account for misselling,
I have never been missold anything from Eon, all my tariffs were my own choice based on my own research.0 -

Hi there,
I think both of these cases need a bit of clarification.
There's a contact number under the help and support section on the website you can call, they are dealing specifically with these issues.

Helena - thank you for responding - I have telephoned the helpline dealing with the compensation claims and was told that it was my responsibility to get my annual consumption from Scottish Power and that if I didnt get it within 28 days my case would be closed!!!! I wonder are E.ON going to compensate me for my time and the cost of 9 hours worth of phone calls - it seems to me that E.ON are doing everything in their power to wriggle out of the responsibility of paying out - I think the only way forward is to contact the ombudsman - may I also add that I have supplied EON with the tariff I was on and also the daily standing charge - surely this would be enough?????0
