You've been offered numerous credible alternatives, and you've flatly rejected them - and then gone on to propose rent controls (!)
The property market is just that, a market. You can ignore markets, but they won't ignore you.
And finally, seeing as you want to make it personal, at least I can put a !!!!ing roof over my families head :T0 -

Jesus, you guys pay a ton in rent. I live in the east midlands and I felt that the £750 pounds a month I pay in rent for a three bedroom place was killing me.
