Wedding ring dilemma

Have you actually thought through the practicalities of that ring? It's setting will collect all sorts of fluff etc, may pull on clothes when getting dressed, will not be practical for everyday baby care as it may scratch and will be hard to clean when covered in puke etc.
From a technical perspective, that setting is NOT designed to be worn 24/7 forever and ever... they are dress rings and intended as occasional wear... not to be worn when washing hands, showering, gardening, DIYing etc.
Still, I guess for some people it's all about style over substance.
I don't think people's taste needs to be damned because its different. I do agree, for practicality sake for day to day stuff a simpler ring aswell if not instead. Some people don't DIY or garden.

Thanks for all the replies. I went for the Rox ring and managed to get 10% off too. Granted it is not to everyone's taste but it is to mine. I don't shower, sleep or do housework with any jewellery on - it usually just gets in the way!
I can't wait to get married - everything is just clicking in to place now and with 18 weeks to go, we are pretty much organised. :-)0 -
OP Do you realize that the stones will eventually drop out of those rings and it will be constantly at the jewellers being refurbished?
They wont last as they are no way as over time, they will wear and work themselves loose. You will get away with it if your not wearig it all the time, but everyday? then you have no chance!
I do know about this as I have experience of one of my Mums rings which was a nightmare.
My advice would be to get a plain band in gold or platinum etc.0 -

This is so true, I've lost the diamond out of my wedding ring and one of the 3 diamonds out of my engagement ring. I now only wear a plain gold band (inheritance from an aunt who was happily married) in work. I wear my other rings the rest of the time.
It cost £500 to get the diamond replaced in one of the rings and that is more than the ring cost (did claim on household insurance).
A plain band means you can wear it all the time whatever you are doing.Every Penny's a Prisoner.

I've never had a problem over the years with any of my rings and stones coming loose. In fact the only ring I ever had a problem with was a solitaire that was given to my mum by my dad. The diamond fell out after 22 years.
A lot of people opt for stone set wedding bands these days.0 -
They look like dress or eternity rings to me, and not a wedding band.
A gold band, maybe decorative, but no stones, would be my choice - cheaper and ideal for wearing all the time (I am old school, and don't think you should ever take your wedding ring off, except to clean.)
Your choice though....a lot of money!

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

When me and hubby got married 13 years ago this Saturday ( we've actually remembered its our annerversary for the first time ever lol), he used his dads Masonic ring and I got a £35 white gold band out of a high street chain
The rings were a token. Our vows are worth much more
He replaced his ring a year later with a yellow gold flat band as his dads ring meant too much to him to be wrecked whilst working
My little band is still going strong. So tiny and thin it sounds like tin if dropped. I really should get it dipped as its looking yellowish but I wouldn't take it off long enough. It suits my lifestyle I can make pastry, garden, paint, swim, whatever and it stays on
My engagement ring is another matter. A solitaire. I lost the stone once ( luckily found) and since then it's only worn high days and holidays.0 -
I'm glad you have the ring you want OP.

I have a thin 9 ct white wedding band that my husband made me at a jewellery studio and I made his band on the same day. It was such a fun day and I was convinced I was going to train as a jeweller! I love it because he made it and because it looks simple. A close friend has the most stunning engagement and wedding ring from tiffany. All stone set and absolutely beautiful. It suits her lifestyle and my ring suits mine. She has had no problems with the stones or snagging it but I know that it would drive me mad. I would enjoy looking at it whilst it drove me mad though!
You could always get a simple band later. Congratulations on your engagement and marriage.

I am in the 'less is more' camp here. A nice plain (ish) wedding ring would be fine: I find the ones in the OP ghastly actually. JMO.
There are plenty of fairly normal gold bands you can get that have a wee jazzy pattern on them, that look HEAPS better than the ring in the OP.

The gold one below not the 'white gold' one.

Or have a plain one and have your name engraved on it!
I wouldn't personally have anything other than gold - I mean GOLD gold, not white gold.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more!

And I personally wouldn't have anything other than platinum (and really don't like GOLD gold at all), but why share that opinion? You are sounding very judgemental and it's not even answering the original question (which if you had read the full thread you would see is resolved as OP now has the ring she wants). DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
