Wedding ring dilemma

First of all apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

After months of searching I have finally found the ring of my dreams BUT there are two to choose from.

The first one is http://www.fraserhart.co.uk/9ct-white-gold-sapphire-and-0-40-carat-diamond-ring.html
I have been quoted £1050 to have this made in 18ct white gold

Then there is this one http://www.rox.co.uk/selectItem/Diamond_Jewellery/Rings/Eternity_Rings/Sapphire_and_Diamond_Eternity_Ring_0.96ct?1+2609785+10726301

£1495 for what looks like the exact same ring. I tried this on today and it was stunning and heavy! I have also tried on the 9ct and fiancee said that would be just as heavy as the rox ring - would it?

I have been looking for ages then I find two - only 19 weeks until our wedding I really have to make a decision.

Never knew wedding ring shopping would be this stressful or hard!

Not sure what the question is sorry. Are you asking us if you should get the cheaper one because it's £400 less for basically the same ring?

When did wedding rings get so expensive BTW?!
Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

Sorry, can't help you about the weight. I want to ask questions about the ring but realise you've obviously spent a long time looking for the perfect one.

Okay, here we go... do wedding rings normally have that many stones? (yes, I realise you don't have to what's seen as *normal*) What is your engagement ring like and then what kind of eternity ring will you have?
I'm thinking about the overall weight once you have 3 rings, but then I've always struggled to wear rings of any weight lol.

Oh, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials :-)

What is your engagement ring like? I like those rings but they're quite showy and might not go with another ring.

Re the price difference, I guess it could just be mark up or it could be a difference in clarity of the diamonds etc.

Thanks for replies. Just wanted opinions really. I have never shopped in either of these jewellers. This is my engagement ring http://www.beaverbrooks.co.uk/0005532/18ct-White-Gold-Diamond-and-Sapphire-Cluster-Ring/p
I wanted something different from the 'normal' wedding band and also something with a thick band as most of the rings i tried on I felt were a really thin band and can't imagine them lasting 40/50 years!

Obviously you can have whatever you like, but they look like eternity rings to me. I am fairly traditional and think wedding bands should be plain. Otherwise you will have at least two, and maybe three, rings with stones in all sitting next to each other, which will look a bit much in my personal opinion which you are free to ignore :)

But I also am not sure of the question. go with the one you like. The clarity of the stones in the expensive one is not great (ideally you want VSI or better for clarity, and D, E or F colour, although G, H and I look pretty colourless to the average eye too) so I imagine the cheaper one has stones with lots of inclusions and not a good colour, but if you've seen it yourself, and like it, then have it :)

    This may be useful http://www.adiamondbuyingguide.com/fourcsofdiamonds.html

EDIT - will the bands fit under your engagement ring? Or will you need a gap to accommodate the shape of your engagement ring?

I know its all personal preference so please don't be offended but.....

to me those look like my ideal eternity ring and not a wedding ring at all.

For me, I only take my wedding ring when I go walking as my fingers get all puffy otherwise it stays on, regardless of what I'm doing.

If I had this sort of wedding ring, I'd be frightened to do anything!

Both are very expensive, not sure I`d choose an eternity ring for a wedding ring!

My eternity ring is identical but ruby and diamond, nowhere near that price!

I prefer the old fashioned bands, mine cost £59 :rotfl:

I'll just be really boring and say that in many jobs/situations, wearing a plain gold band is fine (i.e. permitted, safe, practical) but wearing rings with many stones is not. The other thing is that tastes and fashions change, and with a wedding ring like this you run the risk of getting fed up with wearing it! Obviously it is entirely your choice but you may find that your choice this year doesn't please/suit/fit you in the future...I imagine getting a ring like this resized would be an extremely expensive job...
...and congratulations on your marriage, take no notice of my practical approach. I wish you many years of happiness.

Honestly,I would want better quality diamonds in the more expensive ring and can easily buy them at a reasonable price! However, the stones in the first ring don't look great either. What were they like in store?

It's up to you really.Who quoted you to have one made?

I'm not sure about wearing an 18ct ring and a 9ct ring together. In theory the harder one would wear away the softer one - but it might take a few years to do it.

I'd be a bit more worried about whether the shapes would match. When I bought my wedding ring, the jeweller did something to it to make sure it would fit next to my engagement ring. (There's a technical term for what he did - I've forgotten that, but basically he shaved a bit of it off). I don't think it would be possible to change the shape of either of those rings.
