Truly unlimited texts pay as you go

Hi all,

My 15 year old son is on Vodafone pay as you go and is using the freedom freebie where you spend £10 a month and get "unlimted" texts and 150 minutes..

On the last week of the 30 day cycle he could no longer send texts and when he checked his balance it said he no longer had unlimited texts...

After going onto the vodafone website it seems they have a fair use policy of 3000 text messages although its advertised as "unlimited"

I am amazed he has used 3000 texts as he must of been sending over 100 texts a day!

Is there a Vodafone package that is truly unlimited texts? or another pay as you go network that has truly unlimited texts?

It would need to be a package where only top up vouchers are used....

I apreciate the networks must protect themselves against people using the unlimted texts for spamming etc but it shouldnt be sold as "unlimited" when it is in fact 3000 per month!

Thanks

It's not outdated. It's just for pay monthly customers unless otherwise mentioned.

Giff Gaff give supposedly unlimited texts for £7.50 bundle with 200 minutes + 250mb. So far no one has been kicked off Giff Gaff for using too many texts. However many users have been kicked off for business use.

I presume your son won't be using it for business use so giff gaff should be fine.

I have just spoken to a man called Kimanza on vodafone live chat and he told me if you phone up vodafone and say you want truly unlimited texts they will activate it...however I asked him where on the internet it says this and he said its not on the internet..he is more than likely from some 3rd world call centre and making this up as he goes.....

    Don't think so.

Vodafone clearly state a 3,000 fair use policy for their pay as you go add on here-

These texts don't even come out of the £10 credit do they? I think 3000 is reasonable.

Sorry for sounding patronising, but IMO you have to be concerned, not amazed, and to address the problem instead of encouraging your son to waste his life on sending hundreds of texts every day.

BTW, it's "[STRIKE]mush[/STRIKE] must have" or "must've" NOT "must of"

Yeah, he needs to start thinking about what he is sending rather than short one word answers to texts.

Don't feed his problem, try and get him to address it. 100 a day is useless.
However if he wants more then he should get a job and earn money to top up more money.

Alternatively, you take out a contract with U/L texts and he pays you the money towards it. Tesco have some good deals, clubcard points on the contract plus means you're only spending £2.50 extra month or so.

if your looking for unlimited texts giff gaff do some good deals for cheap, try looking there
    http://giffgaff.com/goodybags

    £10 - 500 uk mins, unlimited texts , 1gb internet

£12- 250 minutes , unlimited texts and internet

these ones might suit you although they do more than this

the £15 one is 500 mins, unlimited texts an internet

or if he wants more mins then maybe go for the £20 one with 2,000 mins unlimited texts an internet

    no need to worry then
