Passport concern

Hello, hoping for some advice please .
I'm due to go on holiday abroad , first time in 20 years , in July .
I do have a passport as I fly to Scotland now and then to see family.
My concern is that my holiday is July 2 and my passport runs out in October , I'm going on holiday for a week.
How long do I have to have left on my passport when I return from Cyprus , I'm asking as I have heard there needs to be 6 months left apparently on your passport , I m not sure.

Thank you in advance
X

Almost all recommendations require you to have 6 months on a passport before it expires.
You still have enough time to renew it before you go away, if in doubt use Check and Send. You could even Fast Track but does involve a trip to the passport office and isnt cheap.

Personally, I wouldnt risk it while you have the time to do something about it. Check with the Passport agency if unsure and see what they recoomend. :)

because you are flying to, and staying in, the Greek park of Cyprus, your UK passport only needs to be valid for the duration of your holiday :).

They really don't. You don't need 6 months for anywhere in the EU or the US, there aren't actually that many countries that do require 6 months on a passport for a tourist.

thats simply not true for most of Europe if you are a UK passport holder, duration of stay is the necessary validity (as it is in this case).

Fair enough. Having spoken to them recently regarding a similar issue, thats the recommendation the chap on the phone gave me.

Unfortunately a lot of travel companies/agents give a blanket response (which is generally over-cautious) rather than giving specific details for a traveller's destination...I suppose to protect themselves from accidentally giving incorrect information...I've seen major magazines also give incorrect information (specifically 6 months required for travel to the US which is not required for most travelling on a UK passport) too.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

The Pernera Beach hotel is in Protaras so you'd be flying into Larnaca.

    Have a super time.
