I have an update on the Essence peel off French base coat with no other colours. I applied it on Sunday, noticed a bit of shrinkage around the edges and it didn't sit well (bubbled up). The next day 2 of them peeled off !! It may have been my application as I only applied one coat which was a little rushed and may not have capped the tips correctly, but I'm not convinced that it is going to last long.


Over Christmas I used the essence clear peel off with colours on top plus the top coat so perhaps the sensationail top coat seals it better?

Thanks for the update, I might try and get some of the Essence peel off and use my normal top coat with it. It does concern me (well only a little) that you are meant to be able to use the Essence gel as a top coat too - I really wouldn't want it peeling off after only a few days!

But I'll get some and have a little play when I have some time. The peeling off after a week or so is very appealing, but only when I am ready!

Evening all, I've purchased the Geltox kit from ciate, using the offer that was in last week's email. It arrived tonight and I've applied it, will see how long it lasts now. Nail polish I find chips after about a day on me, sometimes after about 12 hours! So I'm hoping I can get some decent wear out of the gel polish. Has anyone else tried this particular brand? Did it work for you? I'd be interested to know

How did you get on with it? I purchased it too. I like the idea that you can use it with a normal polish!

Hi flygal,

I havnt used it much to be honest. I find it to be a bit hit and miss, sometimes I'll get a lovely smooth finish, other times it will wrinkle and pucker when I use the cleanser after curing. I managed to get about three days wear out of it before it started lifting at the tips. I keep meaning to try it again but I can never be bothered to spend the time doing it any, ore these days!

Have you used your kit much? Does it work better for you?

Hi Jobo,

Apologies if I'm saying something you know, but I find the lifting doesn't happen when you paint the base/colour/top coat along the edge of the nail and not just on the actual nail plate.

I currently have Jessica GELeration gels (cheap lamp from amazon stopped working last time though, new bulbs bought and still nothing so I'm 'naked'). My sister (who works in a salon) was at a show thing last weekend and I've now been informed I'm switching to OPI gel :rotfl:
