Cattery for short trip?

Great, cat sitters seem quite popular ☺
Had a call from the Blue Cross today saying they have a cat who we'd be perfect for, looking forward to meeting him on Saturday - fingers crossed!
Thanks for your help and thoughts everyone!0 -
oh wow! wonderful! hope you take to the cat and the cat to you! please post back when you get him! with pics if possible! GOOD LUCK!0

Aww thank you meritaten

we have someone who pops in. The cat hates the cattery - even putting her in a carrier causes her to have a fit and she is not epileptic. we have a pop up feeder which can do 5 days in case the visitor can't make it.
The dogs go to kennels so the cat has a lovely break from them in her own homeI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

We often go away for one night to my parents and just put a mountain of biscuits down & leave the TV on.
For longer we have a cat sitter. One of our cats freaks out big time when he's had to go in cattery and lost fur. They are so much happier staying in their home environment and if you get a good sitter they are amazing. I think ours charged £7 a day which was priceless really.0 -
A sitter certainly seems more popular than a cattery, think I might have to work on the OH as he thinks a cattery would be more fair for the odd short trip. He's owned dogs since he was really young (hence not leaving a pet alone), but cats seem more comfortable in their own surroundings?
I'm just so excited for the weekend. We've been told the cat we're meeting is quite shy and nervous of new people but really comes out of his shell once he knows he can trust you. Even more reason to avoid a cattery maybe... But all depends on how we take to each other. Watch this space!0 -

So we got a cat! She's a gorgeous six-year old tortoiseshell/white, we collect her from the Blue Cross on Thursday

Just starting a new thread with photos etc, and some (very silly, I'm sure!) questions in the hope I can get some much-needed advice

Ours definitely do.
Sometimes I think they wish we weren't there so they can get peace and quiet! :rotfl:0 -
Imagine being a scared cat in a rescue... You don't know why you're there and you won't know if you're even moving out.
Along come some nice people, you get shoved in a basket and taken to a new home.
It takes you a while to get settled and build up trust... you finally get some stability in your life.
Then your human picks you up and shoves you in a basket and takes you away from home and leaves you in a strange place... that looks like a rescue.
You won't know why you are there, if you'll ever see your humans again or if you'll be moving to another home (again).
Is that really fair on a cat? I wouldn't like that... would you?
A house sitter is kinder and is good for home security too... a win-win situation.:hello:0
