This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good Morning all, pinch punch and all that I cant believe its June already where is the year going !

Off to work for me again today, DD has a shift too, OH is chief cook and bottle washer and will cook a nice roast pork for dinner.

Yesterday OH fixed the shower, its been an on going problem and the part finally arrived yesterday so its all done now, he also moved the lawns and cut the hedge so it all looks neat and tidy.

I will put a wash on after this and ask OH to hang it on the line.

Have good days all xx

    Morning All

June already?! Looks like it could be another nice day here, yesterday was fabulous.

DS2 took me to the Gardening Scotland show near Edinburgh which was good, got lots of ideas for the garden and bought a couple of planters made from recycled farm waste (plastic tubs, etc). One is a strawberry planter so have put the plants my friend gave me in it - will see what happens!

Also went to get more compost and some herbs, I am enjoying the fact that there are no rabbits here, the last place was over-run with the little blighters and it was devastating. The only things they didn't eat were rhubarb which I hate anyway and nettles!

DS2 cooked stir fry veg with rice noodles for tea, we had taken a packed lunch which was just as well as there were only burger vans on site, although we did go into the bit with all the food stalls and had lovely tasters of everything!

Loads of washing dried yesterday, I had got it ready on Friday night to put out but even the stuff I put out at about 3.30 was dried by 6.

DD will be home later today, she is in Newcastle at the Kings of Leon concert, I will cook a roast ham dinner for later. She will be back at work tomorrow after 2 weeks off so DS2 will be on his own!! I am sure he can eat his way through the days.

Hope you all have a good Sunday, hilstep - hope the tablets don't give you any side effects. Hugs to those in need. Take care. XX

I got up bright and early this morning as there was a chance DD would need to borrow my car, but she's just text to say she's ok & doesn't need it. The fish have been fed, hubby has a cuppa, the DW is on & there is no washing to do. I shall have some cereal in a sec.
Hilly, I hope you are feeling ok, Topsy, how are things going? LW, don't wear yourself out with Jess, hugs to Molly & anyone else in need.
I finished the last 2 frozen dresses last night & will drop those over later, pics are on FB & on my blog. I've also made a dress for 3 year old DGD from a skirt of mine, I think I'l make up the remaining frozen fabric & see how far it goes and then I may finish one of the dresses I've cut out for myself. I still have a quillow to finish & 2 dresses to make & 1 to alter for me.
Plans for today include hubby cutting the grass & a trip to the fish shop to buy water for the tank.
Roast chicken for lunch with veg from the garden, stuffing balls & yorkies.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, dry underfoot and sun shining although we have a bit of early mist too, should be a decent day – yesterday had sunshine at times but also very overcast at times too.

DH and myself enjoying a peaceful cuppa. Boys still in there pits.

Dinner last night was HM Chinese, we had prawns in black bean sauce, mushroom chow mein and veg fried rice, with sides of pancake rolls, wontons, and prawn crackers – was lovely and so much cheaper than a takeaway. The menfolk all had some of the syrup sponge I’d made Friday night with custard and I did have a small portion too.

Lunch today will be roast lamb, roasties, mash, veg, Yorkshires, and gravy. I also made a toffee loaf yesterday, it was a packet mix that was reduced in the SM and it could be made in a bread maker, so I thought I’d give it a go, it looks and smells ok, but haven’t tasted it yet – if it’s dry it can always be served with custard!

We have several jobs to do today, firstly taking items back to the caravan that need to go, that will clear some of the clutter from the porch and garage! I went to the garden centre and picked up the bits we needed so we’ll need to do that today too. I think DS1 will be cutting the grass front and back today as it needs doing and rain is forecast again from Tuesday (he’s at college full days Monday and Tuesday so won’t have time).

    Have peaceful Sundays everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning all, we were up at 6.30 this morning courtesy of the lurcha who came and banged on the door, greeted us both profusely with licks and waggy tail and then went back downstairs to his armchair and back to sleep!!! Good morning Docky dog!!! Never mind, it's a lovely day in the making out there and warm and dry so we're going to spend as much of it outdoors as we can and just enjoy it.

DD2 who was visiting is having problems with the Zebra child as he's forgotten how to sleep, won't be put down and is wanting to nurse constantly so the poor parents are both physically and emotionally exhausted. I'm going to suggest me going down for a few days just to give her a hand, we'll certainly visit towards the end of the week and big sister will go for part of the weekend. Just a blip I'm sure and will be sorted fairly quickly but when you're living through it, it will seem like a lifetime!!!

The first batch of peas in the polytunnel is nearly finished, we've had a decent crop from them this year and when I was in there yesterday watering the climbing french beans are starting to bloom too and the courgette has many fruits set. We're trying to grow chervil in there this year, it's a herb that like the basil and oregano we grow every year likes slightly warmer growing conditions than we normally get here in the UK. Chervil is so lovely as part of a mixed leaf salad, not quite aniseedy but close, delicious!!!

Hope everyone is able to enjoy this nice day, that all those of us with health problems are feeling better and getting better and that life is good for all of us, Lyn xxx.
  • Good morning everyone :)

Beautiful day and DD's washing she kindly "gave" to me last night is already on the line and I have a load of our own in the machine. As soon as that is done, next job is stripping our bed and getting that in there.

Had a real stroke of luck yesterday and managed to get DD an absolutely brilliant second hand cooker for a bargain £60. I was panicking where we would find the money from for a new one and found this on Gumtree. Went to see it, paid and collected immediately and it's now installed and working in DD's newly painted kitchen.

OK better get on with some jobs. DH is marking but as soon as B&M opens, we need to take back a faulty blind and change a black curtain pole for a silver one. Once they are taken to DD's house and installed, it's back home and more marking for DH and some of our own jobs for me. DD's house looks lovely, ours looks like a tip!

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all,
Up and at em! Washing on the line already. had a lovely lunch with my cousin yesterday. Went to bed at 7.30 and just saw Fawlty Towers before I fell asleep:rotfl: At the moment the only side effect of the pills is tiredness, so let's hope that it stays that way:T
Going out again today, but not far to a garden centre to have lunch.

Buddy the cat is being weird at the moment. He keeps sleeping in strange places and coming in and out at odd times, maybe he has a girlfriend:rotfl:

Had an email from EON this morning. They are refunding me £70 credit and reducing my DD. Result!

    ((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) from me to you

    Enjoy the day.
