Post Office is overcharging me !!!!!help

This is why the post office doesn't get any of my money anymore. They are always trying to charge for the next band up. Prepaid for me.0

Prepaid for me as well and luckily I have a fantastically helpful mail centre who take the lot unchecked. Although actually I tend to over compensate sometimes rather than risk the buyer being overcharged.
They do occasionally do a test weight, but most of the time I hand a big bag over and they empty it straight into the cages.
My local small post office used to be dreadful for overcharging, I began to dread going in there as I knew I would have to end up arguing. I still use them for non UK tracked as the mail centre doesn't do them but instead f the couple running it it is now run by a family who have added a small convenience store as well. The new owners are much more amenable and the few times I've taken a last minute package there they haven't ever questioned what I think it should go as.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I bought myself a plastic postal measuring guide quite a few months ago after being overcharged on postage a few times. I think it cost me about £4 on ebay.
It has made a big difference & because they have got to know me at the post office & realise that what I think it will cost is usually correct (thanks to my digital scale & postal measuring guide) that most of them now take my word for what price the packages qualify at.
Also, having the postal measuring guide at home gives you the opportunity to rewrap your packages in the comfort of your home if necessary, to enable them to go at a lower postal rate. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Heard a news article about a local PO and postmaster was criticising new car tax in Oct without discs as said his payment was dropping from 70p to 35p for not issuing discs now. He also said he only got 2p for first class and 1p for 2nd class stamp sales.
There are heavy incentives for them to get it sent guaranteed delivery.0 -
Cool! it will save me so much time to post it myself from the letter box. Can I buy the stamps from the Post office?
So what will happen if I put a wrong stamp on a large letter , for example if I put a stamp of £1.17 on a large letter that weights 300 grams, would they still deliver it or no?
I always post with second class and I had people saying they didn't receive it 3 times in the last 2 years, so I need to make sure it arrives!
which is the cheapest place to can get a scale?
thanks for your answers!0 -

It will get sent, but the receiver will have to pay a fee plus the missing postage, which probably wont go down too well.0 -
I use Seejay's website for calculating cost of postage but you have *got* to have accurate scales and the size gauge as said above:
http://www.seajays.org.uk/postage/
then buy/print prepaid labels via Royal Mail and drop the packets/parcels off at the local Sorting Office. Only works if I don't need a POP.0 -
They pretend your large letter that is 23mm thick will not squeeze through that 25mm gap thing they have (when it clearly does fit) then they charge you £3.90 instead of £1.93.0
