My dad paid for my lessons and bought me my first car (a 1937 MG TA), but that was back in 1963 when I was 17. I paid for my kids' lessons, but could not afford to buy them each a car.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

My grandparents opened up a savings account for me when I was 10 and I was told then that it was when I need to buy a car, they always paid some into it for me at xmas/birthdays as well as presents and made sure if I got money from elsewhere as a gift, most of it would be saved. By the time I was 17, I'd had £3800 saved up so I bought an R reg fiesta for £1500, my parents paid for a block of lessons and I paid the rest, plus my insurance upfront for the first year.
Most of my friends had their first car bought for them but they didn't look after it as much as I looked after mine, as I'd saved for a long time for it and understood from a young age how much it costs for a car.0 -
I paid for my driving lessons myself using work wages, my mum bought me my first car for my 21st birthday (but 6 months early!) which cost £700, and I paid for insurance and tax.0
