Another TalkTalk question

Sorry, I'm new to all this!

Ok ..... it seems that TT no longer do just broadband on new contracts, so now I'm moving, I'm going to go with BT.

However, I can't see any information on the TT website about closing an account. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Do I have to give notice, and how much?

Having read other posts on the subject, I'm slightly nervous ...!:(

how much time is left on your contract?
All you need to do is contact your new provider they will sort out the test TT will send you a final bill.

We are moving from BT to Sky on June 10th ,all it took was a call to sky.

  • A phone call to BT will be all that it takes.

What sort of a deal are you getting with BT? I was with them since 1965 and could not get a Broadband/Phone Line deal of less than £25pm unless you paid for 12 month phone rental up front, and even that still costs more than the deal I got through TT standard prices. And today I got my £75 Love2Shop vouchers from TT which came with the deal.

I was just going for the basic BT broadband - £10 per month, and I was planning on paying the year's line rental up front.

I was paying £15 a month for TT broadband and still had to pay for the BT phone line.

The standard price for TT unlimited broadband is £3.50 and £15.95 for monthly line rental. Less 15% discount for paying within 24 hours of receiving email bill.

I've no idea how long I have on the contract and I can't find any mention of that on my online account either.. I've been with TT since they took over Pipex. This is the worrying bit!

Didn't realise it was that cheap. Gawd knows what I've been paying for up until now then.

    Is there a catch?
I don't know anything about BT's reputation as a service provider, but obviously, TT's isn't brilliant.
  • As I said, I was with BT for BB and Line Rental and was paying more than £27pm even with a 50% discount on BB for 40gb. My deal with TT is less than £20 less 15% and I get free caller display,1571 and other services which BT have started charging £1.50 a month each for.

And BT still has Indian call centres.

I think I will have to go with BT for now. I have already informed BT that I'm moving, I've got my new phone number and have informed friends and rellies of the new number. (Now I know why another peep on here told me I'd done this in the wrong order!)

Having spoken to TT on the phone the other day, I have to say, I couldn't understand a word the woman was saying. Definitely not English!

Thanks anyway. Hopefully I won't get charged a fortune by TT for ending my contract now.
