Hi thanks for replying they've had it 8 and half weeks on their systemi get no answer to why it's being held up they just keep telling me they have no idea what's holding it up they have all the information no problems I'm just being told to be patient, when I've rang up they said the emails were to the processing team to hurry and deal with my claim first one being sent when the claim was at 3 weeks

It wouldn't be as bad if they told me a reason I've asked countless times and the customer services are as baffled as I am

Think all new claims are taking in excess of 9 weeks at minute as its their busiest time of the year with renewals. I am also in your situation only its only been 3 weeks for me, had to wait 2 weeks to get the forms and posted them a week ago so i've prob got another 6 week wait. Really dont know how im gonna cope financially, we had 4 kids and 1 on the way and hubby only earns 12k :(

Keep chasing it up. This happened to my niece. Took them 11 weeks to sort it out & only backdated her 30 days

Can't believe it takes them so long they could atleast pay half or the child tax part? It's been so hard for us and get no help from them just different stories and told to wait and keep checking my bank I put a complaint in 2 weeks ago and they've only just recorded it yesterday! Feel like I've got no where it's been really hard for us I feel for people at the start of it :( definitely going to keep bugging them I just end up getting really emotional when they say no it's still processing just wish I had a date x

    Hi

My claim took 5 weeks and was backdated. You will get all the weeks it has been with the HMRC backdated, plus one month.

So if they paid you now you would receive 9 weeks of backdated payments plus an extra month of payment.

The HMRC backdates the form 30 days from the date they receive it. So if they received your claim form on the 28 March your payments would start from around the 28 February.

Not sure how you can do more than you are doing now with regards chasing them, but I am sure it will get paid soon, and it will all be backdated.

    Good Luck

I got worried incase they wasn't going to backdate me although a lady did say I would be getting it backdated from the 31st march but they also told me it would only take 3 weeks for my claim to be awarded so I don't trust anything they say at the moment lol I'll just have to keep strong and hope next week is the week! Thank you :)

    Hi

If one of you isn't working and not already claiming, try for housing benefit too.

My husband isn't working and not claiming jsa, so no income from his part, just my minimal wage and we have 2 school age children.

Although we don't qualify for Working Tax Credit, we recently received our backdated Child Tax Credit, and we are still entitled to some housing benefit and council tax credit.

    Hope this helps :-):j
